North Korea plan to attack US mainland revealed in photographs
North Korea has revealed its plans to strike targets in Hawaii and the continental United States in photos taken in Kim Jong-un's military command centre.

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel said on Thursday that North Korea's provocative actions and belligerent tone had "ratcheted up the danger" on the Korean peninsula, but he denied that the United States had aggravated the situation by flying stealth bombers to the region.
"We have to take seriously every provocative, bellicose word and action that this new young leader has taken so far" since coming to power, Hagel told a Pentagon news conference, referring to Kim Jong-un.

The only reason they released a report that the stealth bombers had been flown was to send a signal to Kimmy3. Did they expect NK to just sit there and quiver? Have they been paying attention?

Certainly not.

They expected only to send the message to Kim Jong Il that we have the capacity to kill him and his family personally, and destroy everything he has, fairly quickly, regardless of what else happens. It's called "bringing it to his doorstep." It's one thing to have hundreds of thousands of people die in a ware. It's quite another when HE is going to die in a war.

IIRC, that was the same realisation that the Soviet Politburo had in the early 1980s when Pershing was deployed in Western Europe. "These missiles have your name on them ...".

The Soviets had some rationality. This guy has been brought up to see himself as the third immortal God in his family. He may not fear his personal death sufficiently for the message to have any real meaning....or even click.

He of course believes no such thing. It's a long way from having delusions of grandeur to thinking you're a God.

Even Hirohito was acutely aware of his own mortality - and his personal vulnerability to forces both internal and external.

The Pyongyang Metro also doubles as the world's largest nuclear bunker. If there is ever a nuclear war, the residents of Pyongyang will have no short-term worries as they will be safe and secure deep in the bowels of the city. It was a bit weird to be down in the metro knowing that, if a nuclear bomb were to hit at that moment, we wouldn't feel any of its disastrous effects.

A Yonhap news agency report citing an unidentified military official said increased activity had been noted at North Korea's missile sites, but this remains unconfirmed.
