The Sand Creek Massacre was perpetrated by one John Chivington, who was a virulent Indian-hater and racist, who assembled a corps of militia, who were mostly Indian-hating racists (though several refused to participate in the slaughter of women and children), who were not very hard to find in the west at that time, given the fact that various Indian tribes (not including the Arapahoe and their chief, Black Kettle) were slaughtering and torturing settlers all over the west at the time.

The thing is it's okay for you not to give a shit about anyone else. That's your right. Of course that means that nobody else is obliged to give a shit about you, which is their right. On the other hand, if you want someone to give a shit about you, then you have to give a shit about other people. Or, you might give a shit about other people merely because you're a sane person with a mature adult personality who understands that giving a shit about other people is something psychologically healthy people do of their own accord and without being coerced into it or enslaved to their service by selfish, greedy brats who never learned to be adults.

All courtesy of having been a truck owner-driver for 15 years and a couple of investments from the proceeds that worked out rather well. I've worked for 18 months since 2003. It wasn't for the sake of money. It served as a distraction I needed at the time. As for being greedy, I've not minded paying my taxes in the top income tax bracket, and far from expecting anyone to give me anything, my books show that my tax deductible donations alone during my years as a subcontractor were well into the four digit territory. Even in the years since I stopped working my donations continue, though at a reduced rate. Last week, for instance, I contributed 50 bucks to Wikipedia's annual fund raising drive, and that's despite the fact that it is not tax-deductible in Australia.
