LOL I don't know. I tend to watch only films I think I'll like. So it's rare that I'm unhappy with a film unless I've really misjudged it and my initial impression was wrong. I think I did give some shitty ratings, though. I was particularly disappointed with Snow White and the Hunstman, for instance. Or Men In Black 3.Mallardz wrote:Tattuchu what is the lowest rating you have given a film, you just seem very generous and most films make 4 or plus "insert number of nouns" of five "nouns"
You're supposed to be my sole source for deciding what I watch.

People think "queue" is just "q" followed by 4 silent letters.
But those letters are not silent.
They're just waiting their turn.

Re: The 150 Movie Challenge - 2012 Edition
53) Chinatown. The fuck? What's the deal with this film? It's supposed to be a masterpiece or some kinda shit. To me, it was just average. The acting, aside from Nicholson's, was actually mostly poor. Story was okay but just okay. Sure there were some twists and turns but, even so it was unengaging and difficult to give two shits about the characters or the plot. There was little dramatic tension. And the whole thing had an amateurish feel to it. I read some reviews after I watched it, and I found it hard to believe the critics and I had watched the same film. Every item of praise directed toward the film, well, the exact opposite seemed to me to be true.
Weird.
I give it two and a half out of five painfully obvious spectacles. An average film. Glad I only paid a few bucks for it.
54) Tomboy. Oh, I didn't realize this film was French. What is it with the French and films about gender identity confusion? First there was Ma Vie en Rose, and now this. I liked this one better, though, actually. It was more realistic, less fanciful, and more touching. And goddamn the little girl who played the title role was good. And if you didn't know different, you'd swear she was a boy. Great performance. And good acting all around. Between the acting and the dialogue and the script, it was very natural and very real.
One thing that struck me while watching this film was how remarkably loving and close and affectionate this family was. Are all French families like this? Or just the one featured in the film?
Anyway, the only thing I didn't really like about the film was the rather unsatisfactory ending. On the one hand, it's great that everything isn't spelled out for the viewer and wrapped up in a nice little bow. Still, I was hoping for more resolution and closure.
I give it four and a half out of five wieners in a jar.

Re: The 150 Movie Challenge - 2012 Edition
54) Five Easy Pieces. Hard to believe this was Nicholson's first lead role. He seems fully formed here.
55) Flesh for Frankenstein. Good silly fun. I read that this was intentionally cheesy, with the actors not trying very hard on purpose. It's a shame because it could have gone from being silly film to a great film if it took itself more seriously (though not too seriously, of course). The sets were wonderful and the acting was compelling despite the actors' self imposed limitations.
Interesting for its excessive nudity and gore, which must have been quite unusual at the time.
