Memory is shit. In my investigative work, I realized just how shitty it is. Lying is definitely one of the problems, but you don't need lying at ALL to get a bunch of contradictory accounts from eye-witnesses.

The latest fad is a poverty social. Every woman must wear calico,
and every man his old clothes. In addition each is fined 25 cents if
he or she does not have a patch on his or her clothing. If these
parties become a regular thing, says an exchange, won't there be
a good chance for newspaper men to shine?

Re: Kavanaugh hearing
I have an easy time remembering where I was precisely when I heard the news for the first time. I was in my car on a commute to work, and I was listening to the Howard Stern show, and I heard Gary come into the studio to report that an airplane had hit one of the towers. It wasn't understood what kind of plane it was, because they talked about it possibly being like a small engine jet or propellor plane (or something like that). Some time thereafter, the news was updated that a second plane had hit. It wasn't much time (but I cannot remember how long), but based on my commute and where I recall being when I first heard, I don't think it was more than 30 minutes between hits, probably closer to 15-20). I recall letting the parking attendant know and he was incredulous about it. I then parked and hurried to my office, and talked to a couple people as I went. This is where I get immediately fuzzy - I recall speaking to one coworker who was of general Arabic descent (just a coincidence) and I sort of rhetorically said "my gosh, can you believe what is happening?" or words to that effect, and she responded "Yes, I can actually." (or something like that). I have always remembered that because I was surprised by it.
Beyond that, I talked to my boss who was in her office, and I told her to turn on the radio. The news was passing around the office fast. I went to my office and logged on, and tried to call some people but the phones were down or hard to get through, and the internet was slow and hard to get updates online. People were crying.
I cannot confidently report times and the order in which I spoke to people, and I cannot even confidently report much more than I have as to who I talked to. At some point, either before or shortly after lunch time, the office closed up and we all went home. I went to a friend's house - I picked up beer on the way and cigarettes and stuff - and we sat outside with a tv and radio going listing to the events and being upset. I don't recall when one of the towers first fell. I think I was in the car coming home when that happened so I don't think I saw it live, but I recall a female friend of mine at the time just witnessing it on the news falling and she was in tears crying "oh my god o my god!" -- it may be that the tower had already fallen and we were just seeing it then. It's kind of mixed up.
We all got drunk, and speculated how much war was going to come out of this, and who was responsible and all that. There was some fear that day that there were planes flying around that might hit buildings in other cities.

Here is some speculation.Sean Hayden wrote: ↑Tue Sep 25, 2018 3:01 pm
I'd say you're an idiot if you don't remove your social media before coming out against a major player in any political party. You're also irresponsible because you're exposing your friends and family. Women tend to think of that sort of thing too don't they?I wonder what kind of relevant information you expect to be found in her social media? I could guess, but I'd rather not.

I wasn't just talking about her social media scrub, but about this. When she can't remember key details, like where, who or when, until encouraged by a lawyer, well, I just don't think it is very credible. More evidence could appear, but she would have to risk evidence NOT supporting her side of the story. On Monday Sept. 17th, Christine Blasey Ford’s high school yearbooks suddenly disappeared from the web. I read them days before, knew they would be scrubbed, and saved them. Why did I know they would be scrubbed? Because if roles were reversed, and Christine Blasey Ford had been nominated for the Supreme Court by President Trump, the headline by the resistance would be this:
CHRISTINE BLASEY FORD AND THE DRUNKEN WHITE PRIVILEGED RACIST PLAYGIRLS OF HOLTON-ARMS.
In a culture which villifies a man, and ends his career, based on PROVEN lies and false accusations, lots of people still pretend that he deserved the consequences he got - because some weepy (for the moment) women insist he deserves it.Forty Two wrote: ↑Tue Sep 25, 2018 3:05 pmAll I'm requiring is evidence. However, the value of evidence - in every case, not just this one - is judged by the circumstances. Take the Jian Ghomeshi case in Canada, where multdiple women accused him of sexual assault. Turns out, proof was obtained by virtue of emails that each of them was lying, and that they were even in communication with each other to coordinate their purposeful take-down, which was motivated by revenge for him being a general asshole and rejecting some of the women involved. Their motive matters.

I ran into Mr. K, who told me the US was under attack, and I said 'it's about time'. I later learned that Bobby Fisher had said the same thing.Forty Two wrote: ↑Tue Sep 25, 2018 3:18 pmI have an easy time remembering where I was precisely when I heard the news for the first time. I remember thinking that the denizens of US ghettos had finally lashed out. I was wrong as hell, but no matter.
About a year ago, I was over at my sisters place, and recounted how her husband had beat the shit out of me back in the day.
He didn't.
We reviewed our memories, and mine was shown faulty. He HAD grabbed me by the throat and pushed me against a wall. He HAD yelled at me. He walked away without striking a blow, showing terrific restraint (we hated each other back then)
My memory was SO far off the mark, and I don't even really know how.
How many times do you have to experience memory being shitty before you stop accepting this kind of testimonial evidence uncritically?
Who did that? Can you quote them?apologising for rape
Or are you just using lefty words because you are trying to get laid with you 'white knight' actions?

Re: Kavanaugh hearing
How so? According to her, she wasn't being raped. I mean, there is a difference between legs-akimbo-cock-thrusting and "drunk teenager gropes your tits," isn't there? I've had girls grope by cock and balls at college parties. I don't consider that "being raped." Heck, I don't even consider it sexual assault, even if the girl had sex on her mind and even if I didn't want to be touched at the time.

Re: Kavanaugh hearing
As near as I can tell, IF Kavanaugh did everything Ford alleges he would be guilty of sexual assault in the 4th degree, a misdemeanor offense in Maryland and not even close to rape.

Her allegations don't seem to fit any of the other categories.

So you are just going to write that there is a 'rape apologist' on this forum? Then back away from actually backing up your accusation?
Is this a case where we just need to 'believe the accuser'? Or should we make you identify the poster in question?
