We started colonizing the UK in 1919.

Oh, and anything outside the original 13 states wouldn't be a former colony, would it? At least not a former colony of Britain ...

If you restrict it to what is now the United States, then yes. But Canada, as a country, was formed on July 1st 1867 from what is now Ontario, Quebec, Nova Scotia, and New Brunswick. Most of the rest of what is now Canada joined or was ceded to us by the Brits over the next decade or so.
Of course, the crown wanted to keep their fingers in our pie, but, finally, in 1982, we told em to stuff it. We still have a governor general, for reasons unknown, and the Queen is still the head of state, although she has no power over our politics.

No, they extended to Louisiana, that being everything west of the Big Muddy.
