Not as yet, but she's been kinda quiet lately. Not a peep from her on FtB for a while.

I don't fault anyone for keeping their heads down right now unless they really really have a fighty streak.
What I've found with a few discussions I've had lately is this self-satisfaction that people express with their proffessed open mindedness. In realty it ammounts to wilful ignorance and intellectual cowardice as they are choosing to not form any sort of opinion on a particular topic. Basically "I don't know and I'm not going to look at any evidence because I'm quite happy on this fence."

I didn't really like, or understand the point of that video.

But then I turned the sound off, and it wasn't too bad.

Still, it's not easy being interesting, talking to a camera. I couldn't do it.
So we have stuff in common, me and her.

Wait, what. A fit blond women with a exotic accent, well, welcome to the view of an eight year old who hasn't been indoctrinated. Seriously get a grip. How is this moron even famous, as in internet famous, how stupid would you have to be to not share her opinions on life that everyone else who has a brain holds. Feel free to get back to me when she shows a modicum of intelligence about reality and science. I'll wait but I'm not holding my breath though.

Yes, it is (even though it's not).

And if you find her presentation not to your taste it means she's smarter than you as well.

Argumentum ad populum. You are going to have to do better than that even if you are quoting my favourite people on the interwebs.

She actually does have some views that I agree with (but yeah, is pretty much stating the obvious on those), and I don't mind her persona and how she expresses herself, nor her making the most of her assets .. all good with that. It was the arrogant intro about those who might disagree and followup jabs that put me off this one. I do disagree with a few of the points she made here, but have no interest in making any effort to respond when she's made it clear what she thinks those who disagree can do. Image

We might be crossing wires a bit - my response to laklak was a tongue in cheek dig at aspire1670's little attack on me.

I agree with your assessment about the commentator in the OP - I don't care if it's a man or a woman; the yawn inducing "be open to all sides of an argument" bollocks is, ironically, patronising.

After that I just couldn't be bothered listening to Maragrita Pracatan warble on for 20 minutes.

There's probably more insight in a Shakira song.

I felt bad, so I watched the first ten minutes.

Nothing new, nothing illuminating.

I don't even think she has anything new to say to what she would describe as the "non-skeptic" community. The ideas she discusses about sexism and the patricarchy have become very engrained in western societies, which is obviously a good thing.

I think she's preaching to the converted, and she's preaching a message which is quite old - even those who choose to ignore it are aware of it.

Yeah, I wonder though if that stuff made more sense in context with some feedback she had been getting.

If her bit on patriarchy was its own short video I think it would have a very effective inbed for blog/forum discussions. FWIW, I like her style manic style. Not everyone can pull that off to my taste.

Some people are just born to talk to a camera. Some people aren't.

I've got no interest in cooking, other than the absolute basic. I hate tv cooking programs, even if the presenter has got big tits. (Nigella etc)

But I've often found that I have the tv on in the background, and suddenly realise that I'm watching a cookery program, and interested, and enjoying it. It's happened without me knowing it. That's Delia Smith.

I don't know how she does it, but she gets your attention, gets you interested, and you actually see a point in it. It's laid back stuff, done at a normal conversational rate, and it's either very clever, or she's just born for it.

A few other people have that gift. David Attenborough, I guess, although I think of him as more of a mouthpiece, than a thinker.

Richard Dawkins, I guess, always makes me listen.
Patrick Moore, is another one, in his own way.
Daniel Dennet does make me want to listen, although what he says isn't always rivetting.
Christopher Hitchens had it, but maybe overused it a bit.

I don't think this Christina is in the same league at all.
She initially makes you listen, because of the accent and blonde hair. But disappoints after a short time.
Mabe if she slowed down, it would be better. I dunno.
