I know that our sun doesn't have enough mass to become a black hole when it goes nova but I'm not sure if it can possibly generate smaller stars, won't it eventually become a brown dwarf (or did I just make that term up?)
Wiki has it so it must be true

I thought I'd click and hear Moby, so our relationship is off to a rocky start. Lucky for you I don't matter a fuck around here so there you go. Welcome.
At least I'm housebroken.

A brown dwarf is an object that has insufficient mass to achieve fusion. Jupiter, IIRC, is too small to qualify, but that's the sort of beastie we're talking about. The Sun is likely to become a red dwarf, with the remaining planets slowly spinning around it for-effectively-ever. The reason I wonder if we'll ever make it into a fourth generation star is that much of our mass may end up spinning around the same burnt out husk. That said, it's probably just a matter of time until our system stumbles into another star-forming region like the one in my av (T Tauri). Perhaps some of the matter that makes us up will one day form part of the body of another (alien) sentient being that sits at its computer writing nonsense in geek-mode...

It's cool being an atheist. None of this 'immortal' bullshit.

Heartbroken as well as housebroken?
I wondered if anyone would pick up the reference.

So who are you, Made Of Stars? Or are you keeping your cards close to your chest on that one?

Then they for sudden joy did weep,
And I for sorrow sung,
That such a king should play bo-peep,
And go the fools among.
Prithee, nuncle, keep a schoolmaster that can teach
thy fool to lie: I would fain learn to lie.
And I for sorrow sung,

thy fool to lie: I would fain learn to lie.

Q: If we're all made of "recycled" material, then some part of us might have been an alien at some distant time in the past?Made Of Stars wrote:I'm shy. Mind if I have a cuppa?

Absolutely not. Although I would add that the tea around here is specially formulated by the Clique's kitchen staff. You have no choice but to love it. And I noticed that you had already gained access to our NSFW quarters. Have you been looking at things there?

Indeed! The question then is "which part of the alien?".Gawdzilla wrote:Q: If we're all made of "recycled" material, then some part of us might have been an alien at some distant time in the past?Made Of Stars wrote:I'm shy. Mind if I have a cuppa?

Let us think the unthinkable, let us do the undoable, let us prepare to grapple with the ineffable itself, and see if we may not eff it after all. -Douglas Adams
