Crap. It is often used to make sure that a seated Congressman or his party maintain a majority of voters favorable to their position. So we have "corridors" ten inches wide that stretch from one white enclave to another to created a District that has 90% white middle class voters.Tyrannical wrote:Gerrymandering is only used in the US to ensure that Blacks get elected to Congressamused wrote:Here in the US we need just one change: No gerrymandering of US Congressional districts. If we had just shipped the Blacks back to Africa and kept a our older immigration policies we'd be living in a multicultural paradise where English, French, Italian, German, Irish, Swedish... people lived in peace and harmony. But someone though you can have a multiracial multicultural societyGawdzilla Sama wrote:Crap. A rational skeptic should be able to discuss and debate anything, no matter how much they may personally disagree with that point of view. Discussing a subject is not agreeing with it, but understanding it.

Mistermack seems to have overlooked reforming the tax system so that corporates and the wealthy pay their full share of taxes.

That's a sweetly naive idea, that there is no censorship now.Hermit wrote:Censorship. Yeahy. Just what we always needed.mistermack wrote:When the revolution comes, and the world begs me to be a benevolent dictator I will :

In fact, if you work in the media, there is HUGE censorship going on. It's practiced by the owners of the media, through the editors and managers that they carefully choose.
If you are in the media, just try to publish something that they won't like. It won't see the light of day, and they will very quickly realise that they made a mistake in hiring you, with the obvious result.
Rupert Murdoch's influence is incredible. Even the BBC have been nice about him, and still rein in their criticism. Why? Because, when they leave the BBC, they will need a job, and he will be deciding who works and who doesn't.
Censorship? You're having a laugh.
Anyway, what I proposed was anti-censorship. The owners wouldn't be able to hire editorial staff. Nor fire them. That means that they can print what they like, without fear of being dispensed with, and blacklisted. And making untrue and biased reporting an offence, isn't censorship.
You can print what you like, so long as it's true.
And you don't answer to a censor, you answer to a court, if you lie and misrepresent the truth.
Like everything else, it would have to be serious, and provable, to be worth prosecuting.

MM, I censor World War II. I have to chose what goes on the internet's largest archive of material on the war. However, very few people have complained, and most of those complains revolve around not having enough material on their country. I direct them to alternative sources. It's the same with mass media. If accept what they provide as the only news, more fool you.

A good point. Although, the wealthy would be caught by the inheritance tax.Blind groper wrote:Mistermack seems to have overlooked reforming the tax system so that corporates and the wealthy pay their full share of taxes.
But I'll have to include catching the rich for tax in numbers 11 to 20.
The reason that these people get loopholes now, is that countries engage in an auction for the wealthy, and their capital. If the US taxes them more, they will move to Russia, or China, or India, whoever is bidding more, by offering better tax loopholes.
When I'm WORLD dictator, they won't get the chance to flit from place to place. I'll hit them for proper taxes, wherever they alight. But the big countries of the world could do that now, by getting together to harmonise taxes of billionaires and corporations, and to exclude any country that tried to do their own separate deals.
Capital is no good, if you can't use it.

That's why all the political parties were kissing Rupert Murdoch's ass, and still are, behind the scenes.
Because HE decides what goes into the Sun, The Times, etc. etc.
You have the same with Murdoch, and with all the media. You read and hear what the rich owners want you to read and hear.
If you're happy with that, more fool you.
