Boris Johnson!
That man cracks me up.
The things he says and the way he moves and looks make me laugh.
Oh, you have a point. He's a national treasure, up there with Jeremy Clarkeson.

This is old news already, isn't it?

I had some interesting conversation about Dominic Strauss-Kahn with my cousin's husband. He was a huge fan of his, and was devastated about the scandal, especially since later on, at least according to Gwen, it was consensual and a set up by his competition. He was huge competition for Sarkozy, who pretty much encouraged the installation of him as IMF director to get him out of the public eye. If not for this scandal, Strauss-Kahn would have been a big contender and possible winner in the upcoming election.

Strauss-Kahn was just an idiot. I don't give a flying fuck what people do in the bedroom and frankly most French don't either. However, if you're a politician, you have to be ultra careful. He deserved what he got because he was stupid about it and let himself get set up and caught. That's what I think about Berlusconi too...who the fuck cares? If it helps them do a better job, then power to them.

On the part of some French, there is now some animosity towards American press (go figure :hehe: ) because our press made a big deal about Strauss-Kahn, exacerbating the scandal and pretty much putting in the last nail of the coffin and sealing his fate as a loser.

So, he missed out on becoming a candidate in their upcoming presidential election is Sunday - the first round where they whittle it down to two candidates, then two weeks later comes the main election. In France they are elected to a five year term in office.

Some political advertising in France - it's quite different from us here in the US, so I took some photos.

DSK is as much as left winger/socialist as Miterrand was... which is about why he was so consensual. the Right knew they had a man in the enemy camp.

As for the scandal, I've always thought it was engineered, and that dialo woman likely was part of a plot. The guy knew he was poised to become a head of state, I strongly doubt he is stupid or out of control enough to have indulged in a rape, or even anything borderline... if he is, I wonder how he managed to hold the string of high level jobs he's had rather than being committed to an asylum.

and the next election is a sham... 3 weeks from now Szarkoshyt will be starting a second term, or that incompetent milksop hollande will be president 5 years too late... not that he's worthy of getting that job, ever.

Looks like the Vatican has located the nuns concerned and ordered a drone strike. :smoke:

Leader of 'radical' US nuns rejects Vatican criticism

The leader of a group of US nuns the Vatican accuses of flouting Church teaching has rejected the claims.

"I've no idea what they're talking about," Sister Simone Campbell, head of Network, a Catholic social justice lobby, told the BBC.

"Our role is to live the gospel with those who live on the margins of society. That's all we do."

On Wednesday the Vatican announced a crackdown on US nuns long considered too liberal by the church hierarchy.

The Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith issued a highly critical report that accused US nuns of engaging in "corporate dissent" and of ignoring, or worse, challenging the church's teachings on abortion, homosexuality and an all-male priesthood.

Do I foresee a bunch of, or maybe mass excommunication, and cutting off of support?

If support is cut they could still keep in business by other means. :smoke:

Well, they wouldn't be catholic nuns anymore. whatever else they may become, or whatever creed they choose to push, or church they found.
