Fripp/Belew :awesome:

People think "queue" is just "q" followed by 4 silent letters.

But those letters are not silent.

They're just waiting their turn.

Monte Montgomery: Badass of the acoustic.

He's a good songwriter, but he seems to really let loose when he covers someone else's songs.

Here's prelude and Little Wing. Like Jimi and Stevie before him, he is a most worthy Wing Bearer.

And Superstition.

What I've found with a few discussions I've had lately is this self-satisfaction that people express with their proffessed open mindedness. In realty it ammounts to wilful ignorance and intellectual cowardice as they are choosing to not form any sort of opinion on a particular topic. Basically "I don't know and I'm not going to look at any evidence because I'm quite happy on this fence."

Holy shit that's amazing.

Steve Vai's great, but ever since I read about him being the source for the Zappa song Stevie's Spank, I just can't not giggle a little bit.

since someone mentioned Paco..

(with Al DiMeola)

one of the Youtube comments:

"This is the actual show, the lp is edited. And sped up a tiny bit as well.

Still the best live guitar ever recorded. Ever. 30 years later - this still owns everything out there, and these guys can still pull it off, if a bit less articulate.

So adept and so melodic. Count your blessings to enjoy this - we will not see players like this for a long time"

Wasn't McLaughlin on that as well, the famous recording? Of tht bunch, have seen only Paco, in Kalamazoo. Sometime early 90s.
Chic Corea tune.

nope, John M wasn't on that cut of Rio Ancho AKA Mediterranean Sundance

but he did figure prominently in the show and on the album
here he is with Al Di, same show, on another Chick Corea tune:

i was lucky enough to see those guys on that tour, in Houston, Tx, summer of 1983 (Steve Morse opened the show)

the next night, in the same auditorium, i saw Quiet Riot open for Ronnie James Dio
(Vivian Campbell rippin the Les Paul)

Cool thread.

Joe Satriani. This has potential to go on for pages, but I'll spare you all and keep it to 8 examples.

Whoa, the edit function doesn't hang around very long, does it? Wanted to add this to my previous post.

This is a bit of an oddity for me. The solo isn't terribly technical and it's quite short and simple, however, it's always blown me away. Something about the harmonics he hits and the way they work with the whole song is definitely part of it. One of my favorite solos of all time.

This is me doing a bit of noodling with an old band. The weird theramin stuff is actually me going crazy with the multi effects.
