Any ape that asks for it should be granted personhood. Same goes for dolphins, cephalopods, aphids and prions. :tea:

If corporations are granted personhood, then fuck, yes, apes should get it.

No personhood for anybody who wouldn't be able to grasp what personhood entails.

Which means, no... NO personhood for severely retarded/stupid people, NO personhood for babies, and not for the apes either.

By this I also invert what Mai says... not for corporations either.

Well fuck, nobody alive deserves personhood as nobody grasps what it entails.

I'd grant personhood to anything with 20,000 acres or more.

What kind of "personhood" are we talking about here? For example, corporations don't vote - would apes with "personhood" not be allowed to vote, either? Corporations can be owned by individuals - could apes still be owned, and effectively made slaves?

If apes are given personhood do they have to be freed from captivity? Do they have to pay taxes and obey laws?

And more importantly, would it mean we can legally have sex with them?

Mind you, if you could see my wife...

The point is that with rights come responsibilities. Apes would have to obey the public decency laws, meaning no appearing naked in public, no shagging or wanking in public and no throwing shit at people.
Biting a member of the public would get them six months, and they would have to fill in a tax return.
But on the plus side, what if one passed it's driving test in Congo? Could it apply for an international driving licence?
.
While there is a market for shit, there will be assholes to supply it.
