I'll second that. That has to be the worst movie to ever be loved by almost everyone. I don't get it, and I've never gotten, why that movie is supposed to be so awesome.
The Jenny character always bothered me. She treats Forrest abysmally the entire movie, and she has few redeeming qualities as a person. And, the whole idea seems to be that a real man is monogamous no matter what, let's the woman he loves run around and do whatever while he sits, waits, pines and works, then after he has made his fortune, and she's finished with her running around, he gets to meet his six year old son who she so kindly never bothered to let him know about, and then he takes her in at the very end when she's dying of an unnamed deadly disease....
As Barry Norman, respected British film critic said (approximately), "Forrest Gump, a film predicated on the idea that what America needs is more stupid people"
Where the hell were you guys last night? We could have been a bitchy Oscar posse.
(I said
posse, Coito. Posse.)

Most people who really like the Oscar's don't prefer posse....

How does one person have an average age?

Why thank you!
I don't think I'd have the stamina to keep up with banality every day. Just one or two nights a year, if the clothes are fabulous enough.

Your welcome. The Good lady Strange comes home at night stunned at the effort it takes the young women in her work who seemingly are so skilled at sustained shallowness that they never even accidently saying something profound or of value and in fact shy away from such like Dik-Dik's near a pride of Lions.
I find it extraordinary, considering even 2 year olds can spout accidental wisdom.
Facebook decorum perhaps? Never say anything that might even tangentially lead to a defriendiment.

On Forrest Gump - What always pissed me off was in the competition for Best Film that year were Shawshanck Redemption and Pulp Fiction but they still decided to pander to American sentimentality. There's plenty of shows that show old footage of the past through the years. I'd rather watch those than Forrest Gump.

I'd forgotten what it was up against. I love both those films!
Eh. The Oscars aren't really about merit. Sometimes merit gets awarded almost by happenstance, or when something is so brilliant it can't be ignored.
@Audley-- I'm thinking you didn't read much of the thread (not that I blame you!) I said plenty that would have gotten me unfriended on Facebook. I don't have the political know-how for daytime.
