A few posts ago you asked 'What's Netflix'? A few posts later you said you had a trial with it. Further back - and as of often - you dismissed something without knowing anything about it. Forget it.

Might go and see First Man tomorrow or might go to Clitheroe.

Exactly old son. I will but it does not take away the right to comment on madness when I see it. Just wait until actors are no longer required. That will not be long.
How about a concert with a hologram?
Singer Amy Winehouse to return to the stage as a hologram

What an utterly bleak, pointless, and self-pitying movie.

People think "queue" is just "q" followed by 4 silent letters.
But those letters are not silent.
They're just waiting their turn.

A Star Is Born interests me not at all, and I have no intention of seeing it. I LOVE Lady Gaga, though. As an actress, that is. I've never heard a Lady Gaga song, and I don't expect I ever will.

Loved them both. Top marks for each.

Saw Hereditary in the cinema. The theatre was in tears laughing by the end. A load of silliness.

Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows is one of the most offensive movies I've seen in some time. Not because it's racist, sexist, or homophobic or anything like that. It's just that awful.
Didn't make 10 minutes.

I, Tonya was very good indeed. Fabulously waspish performance from Allison Janney, Margot Robbie is great, snappy ice-skating scenes and gloriously cheezy music. Funny too.

Re: Movies of the good kind we have looked upon.
Went to see A Star is Born today mostly because of good reviews and also Mrs Rum (who must take most of the blame). Acting exceedingly good, Lady Gaga a revelation. The movie itself? Utterly awful.
Pondered why and it was the message (avoiding spoilers) that ambition and becoming a 'star' trumps everything (especially in America) and even love, that rarest of things in life, an also-ran.
The values are up side down. A shame considering what a well-made film it was.
As an afterthought that is what I hated about La La Land too.

I also saw A Star is Born. I found it bleak and self-pitying with thoroughly unlikable characters I didn't care about. It was like (the excellent) Bojack Horseman if you took away the self reflection, awareness, and irony.

On the other hand..
Watched Phantom Thread on TV this evening. What an utterly glorious piece of filmic art. You might not like the context (high fashion in the London of the 1950s) but the drama and plot are spellbinding. Watch!
