Re: Timebomb Day 1
And Zigmen, it's only the accumulated votes at the end of the day that will count towards your vest, right? not if someone votes you then unvotes you ?

Town outnumbers Scum at the beginning of every game.Uselesstwit wrote:so what happens if we just don't vote? wouldn't town outnumber scum at the endgame?
Town does not win by outnumbering Scum, and never has.

Correct.Mantisdreamz wrote:And Zigmen, it's only the accumulated votes at the end of the day that will count towards your vest, right? not if someone votes you then unvotes you ?
Unvotes cancel all votes.
What counts is where your vote is at the end of the day.

Correction on the part I've bolded below ...
The code means we will know our own point tally ... Although in the OP of the rules thread, zigmen adds that the scum team "knows a little more about the codes town does".
This is incorrect too ... On reading zigmen's edit of the rules, we're not given our point tally each morning via PM, but the point tallies are posted as a roster with the letter for each player that corresponds to the number of points they have accrued up to that time.charlou wrote:How could that happen if we don't vote?Uselesstwit wrote:so what happens if we just don't vote? wouldn't town outnumber scum at the endgame?
From what I've read of Zigmen's explanation, this is how I think to works ....
Each vote is a point on the votee's vest. Once a votee reaches six or more points, their vest is 'armed' .. iow, if their vest is at six or more points by the end of the game, they will explode. How many town, and how many scum explode at the end of the game will determine which side wins.
We can keep track of each others vote points, but from what I gather, we'll only know our own tally because the night moves points are only added to our score via PM.
As we are given our point tally each morning via PM, this means we aren't aware of each other's tallies. We won't know for sure when others become 'armed', and we won't know when we reach a point where people explode.
The code means we will know our own point tally ... Although in the OP of the rules thread, zigmen adds that the scum team "knows a little more about the codes town does".

Re: Timebomb Day 1
What happens to someone who is armed and reaches their max? Do they still play and if they do, does this mean that their vote becomes null?

Re: Timebomb Day 1
It seems like they do - it's just that, I'm guessing at a cut off point, we'll have to see who explodes. This is kind of interesting though, because even though you might be 'armed' or technically dead, we'll still be able to put input in for the remaining players.divagreen wrote:What happens to someone who is armed and reaches their max? Re: Timebomb Day 1
Armed means you have 6+ points, and are doomed to die. Yet, you are still alive and may vote like everyone else.divagreen wrote:What happens to someone who is armed and reaches their max? Do they still play and if they do, does this mean that their vote becomes null?
10 points is just a cap. If you have 10 points, and you get 5 more votes on you, you still have 10 points.
Remember, nobody dies until the final moment of the game. Until then, you can vote and post all you like!

This is very intriguing! I'm loving the concept. It means we have all game to figure stuff out... well, sort of....

With the unvotes removing points, does that only include points gained on the same day as the unvotes, or does it include points from previous days? IOW, are we stuck with the tally we begin each day with and it proceeds from there?

I think I understand your question. Yes, this is important to understand.charlou wrote:Awkwardly phrased question coming up (sorry) ...Zigmen wrote:Armed means you have 6+ points, and are doomed to die. The votes get tallied and finalized at the end of each day. These points then become permanent. If you vote for PlayerX, then unvote, there is no point given.
If you vote Player Y and nightfall is called, that point is placed on PlayerY's vest.
You may not "unvote" that point off of that vest the following day.
Unless some sort of nightmove occurs to increase/reduce the amount of points on someone's vest, you can expect that a player's tally will include every vote that has ever been placed on that player (as long as the vote was not unvoted the same day as it was cast).

Re: Timebomb Day 1
I was wondering the same thing.
So, now that we've got the game play (kinda) sorted, what the hell are we going to do? Start with Mayor voting? Or do we wait till everyone shows up?

Re: Timebomb Day 1
I think we can basically keep track of who has reached 5 points by the end of a day and look to votiing other players. And this is intriguing.
I'm going to put a vote on UT for asking about town not voting.
This question would appear to be a scum trying to understand town's motivation.
Howvever it is an opening gambit to get things rolling.

Re: Timebomb Day 1
Since the mayor gets two votes, I'd suggest we not be hasty about voting a mayor in. Anyone who appears to treat a mayor vote lightly should attract attention.

MZ, I read your post just as I tried to submit so no-one should read my thoughts about mayor voting as automatic suspicion of your post.

Yep, that seemed like an odd question to me too, but I put it down to genuine confusion about game mechanics than a ploy ... particularly as UT wasn't the only person asking questions. Still, something to keep in mind.Magicziggy wrote:I'm going to put a vote on UT for asking about town not voting.
