And, it's rather good I might add, William Macy is great in it.

So American viewers will be interested in watching it? Humor is tricky from culture to culture...The Office would have never succeeded in the US if it had not been remade to suit American audiences. Some British sitcoms get aired on PBS occasionally, but they don't get nearly the same interest as the remade British sitcoms do.

Why does anything get remade? Because someone thinks they can do it better, or to accomodate a different viewing audience. Who knows, you might even like the American version better. ;)

I couldn't, wouldn't, nooooooooo. See, some stuff, just some stuff shouldn't be exported from it's context because it belongs in it's context. I feel strongly about this. Shameless belongs here and with merkins who feel open and curious enough to watch something as it is, not reflavoured.

Strawberries from the field taste like bites of heaven - strawberry flavour sucks!
"Whatever it is, it spits and it goes 'WAAARGHHHHHHHH' - that's probably enough to suggest you shouldn't argue with it." Mousy.

I remember someone told me the 'Merkins were remaking Father Ted. It nearly killed me. But then I found out it was bullshit and happiness was restored.

I wouldn't presume to criticize something I've never seen before. So, out of curiosity, I went ahead and downloaded an episode of the British version and watched it. I didn't enjoy it nearly as much as the American version, but of course, it was only one episode so it would be unfair of me to judge the entire series on that one episode. So, it's really a matter of taste then, isn't it?

If it's such a fabulous series, how come it didn't get distributed in the US then, as is?

The only other explanation, since according to you Brits yours is a better series than the Showtime version, is because the UK producers sold out. It appears they don't have nearly the same national pride about their program as some of their viewers do. :hehe:

The British one is great (never seen the American version), although after the first season it started to lose the magic a bit, I thought.

I've actually never seen a whole episode. I've seen about five minutes of one, and maybe a few seconds of a handful of others.
