Gripe About RDF Here
Re: Gripe About RDF Here
It is apparent that Dawkins feels the same about organized atheism as he does about god. He's probably out having tea with Rick Warren.

As much as I hate Rick Warren, the one thing he seems to do rather well is build community. Dawkin's on the other hand is not the most sociable character.Victor T wrote:It is apparent that Dawkins feels the same about organized atheism as he does about god. By the way, hi Victor T!

Victor, I'd like to add that to my sig please.Victor T wrote:You got to be Jesus crazy to pull a move like that.
Well, what a(nother) brilliant demonstration of Josh's ability with the 'reason stick'. He's made a total arsehole of himself (par for the course, of course) but also of Richard. That Richard might want to move his RDF.net in a different direction is entirely his perogative afaiac, it is after-all his name to which the whole thing is associated; but I think it would have been reasonable to expect him to address the community directly, make plain his motivations & give people time to pack their boxes. We aren't talking a handful of people here, we're talking 85,000. Frankly, he just looks like a self-important cunt now. I'd love to know in which universe he thinks this was executed rationally (at least last time the mayhem was easily explained by the destructive ass covering of a particular individual).
To those of you here attending the Convention in Melbourne next month, I'd like it if you join me in a silent protest when RD takes the stage on Sunday - as he enters the room, we stand with our backs to him. . .
If I'm alone, you're all sycophantic chicken shits!

Hey, I was just new to the RDF when it commited suicide. I found a lot of gold there and am sad to see it go. I have read all his books, put the man on a pedestal, just to be let down. Shame on you RIchard, don't put your name on shit you don't endorse. I am just new to this, what is sig?

Lol, ok, I see, sorry, I havn't been a part of anyhting like this since ICQ about a million years ago. I am glad you like.
Re: Gripe About RDF Here
Maybe Dawkins can make it up by writing a book on the subject of the evolution of non-theist organized group movements. And what one should not do to quash them.

I'm wild just like a rock, a stone, a tree
And I'm free, just like the wind the breeze that blows
And I flow, just like a brook, a stream, the rain
And I fly, just like a bird up in the sky
And I'll surely die, just like a flower plucked
And dragged away and thrown away
And then one day it turns to clay
It blows away, it finds a ray, it finds its way
And there it lays until the rain and sun
Then I breathe, just like the wind the breeze that blows
And I grow, just like a baby breastfeeding
And it's beautiful, that's life

Seriously sad shit. I drifted from there long ago, only popped up now'n then to lurk and send PM's.
Was it all Josh? Or was it a directive given to Josh?
Just doesn't seem smart to alienate a large chunk of your reader/fan base.
Kind of puts a dampener on the convention coming up, too.

Ah, I feel better now.
On top of that, two things really bother me.
1: The way the staff were treated.
2: It appears to be deliberate timing that Dawkins is off in MunichAustralia.
They couldn't have handled the whole thing in a worse way if they had tried.
The whole scene will be a little weird after the forum genocide...

Re: Gripe About RDF Here
It all seems just a little to biblical to me. This Josh, I mean Moses, no, I mean Josh comes down from his mount with a commandment for the people. Josh, I mean Moses, no, sorry, Josh lets the people know that there is going to be new law imposed. Does he not know what order of people are residing in this forum? Fuck-That-Shit. We are atheists, non-believers, and we do not take kindly to being told how it is. I watched Dawkins on TED the other day, on militant atheism, guess hes so militant that he doesn't believe in you either. But I believe we will be better off without the RDF, that old stick in the mud, evolution has been giving the boots to creationsism for 150 years. Those who say that evolution is wrong are only lying in an attempt to convince themselves because they are to scared to believe that when you are dead, you are fucking dead! The death of theism will not come in the form of science, science only proves the the irrelevance of a creator. Logic and philosophy will be what puts the lord on the cross.
