It's a biography of Temple Grandin who is an autistic, a professor, autism activist and designer of humane systems for use in factory farming.

I already saw it twice in digital 3D theaters here in town. The Rave here in town is excellent. I really have no one to go with at this point to go see it in Noblesville (which is just north of Indy -- a 2 hour drive).Gawdzilla wrote:It would have been worth the trip to Indy to see it in IMAX, my friend.eXcommunicate wrote:Damn. People think "queue" is just "q" followed by 4 silent letters.
But those letters are not silent.
They're just waiting their turn.

It's aimed at kids, of course. They explain things like what Lotus Eaters are. But they don't beat you over the head with it.tattuchu wrote:Oh, it's out now? Cool. I think I'll check it out. Finally got around to seeing Slumdog Millionaire. Better than I expected in a lot of ways. Some gorgeous photography. A bit too over-sentimental for my taste but not as bad as I feared it might be.
A book is a version of the world. If you do not like it, ignore it; or offer your own version in return.

I watched Apocalypto. Produced by Mel Gibson.
I found it on iPlayer and thought it was a docu.
It was actually quite a good film.

Re: So.... Seen Any Good Movies Lately?
I wanted to check out some more Michael Caine films, after enjoying him in Is Anybody There? I've always liked him. Prolly cuz of his Cockney accent. Anyway, I got Shiner, Flawless, and Alfie. I liked the first two well enough, but as you might expect I loved Alfie. It was in turns funny, sad, and touching. Kinda reminded me of Naked, though of course that came later, and may have been influenced by Alfie and not the other way around.
Question: was Shelly Winters a big star in her younger days or summat? I only know her from The Poseidon Adventure, where she gave a wonderful and heart-wrenching turn.
This morning I watched Lymelife. I'd never heard of this film but it was recommended to me by amazon, as is their habit, after I'd purchased something they considered of similar interest (though I've no idea what that might have been). It's got Alec Baldwin in it, and two of the Culkins, who are both much better actors than their more famous brother. Strange that it was marketed as a comedy: "laugh out loud funny" and "violently funny" were two of the blurbs on the cover, and yet it's more of a drama. Of course like any good drama there a humorous aspects to the story, but it seemed to me a rather more melancholy affair than a laugh-fest. If it was a comedy, it was a particularly low-key and understated one. Regardless, I thought it was great film with fine performances by all, in which they fleshed out some well-rounded characters. I liked the subtlety of the film. It didn't hit you over the head with the plot; much was left unsaid to the viewer, implied as opposed to spoon fed. It was a film that was accessible and unpretentious and yet didn't insult its audience's intelligence, and I thought it was moving and emotionally resonant. It was the kind of film that lingers in your head after you've seen it.
