David Attenborough's Life

Post by devogue » Tue Oct 20, 2009 3:46 pm

I watched the reptile and amphibian episode last night and I was a bit disappointed.

I liked the bull frogs, the Canadian snakes and the wickedness of the Komodo Dragons but the whole production just came across as a bit, well, lifeless.

I thought the first episode was like that too. Not as good as the last few series. :( :( :(

I haven't watched this yet, but I do have the first two episodes recorded - I hope.

I got the feeling it was just an excuse to show off their fancy HD camera shots. For instance, of all the life on Earth they had to show the famous Jesus Christ Lizard.

Bought the t-shirt.

I have the utmost respect for David Attenorough. His films are always very interesting, but alas, I feel he now needs to hang up his coat.

Yeah, mabe a little lacklustre. Only 3 of 10 episodes in though, so give it a chance. Still miles better than anything else on the box at the mo.

I know the problem, it's the jaded palate of 2009. If Sir David isn't piloting a mini-submarine up a Humpback whales penis one minute and then fingering a vampire bat's prostate as it flies into the heart of a volcano the next, 21st Century man starts to get bored...

I blame Nintendo and "Music Television".

Just watched the episode with the plants. I loved the time lapse shot at the start even if they did cheat.
Also liked the time-lapse shot on the Creatures of the Deep episode as well.

So are you auld technophobic gits still not showing love for the new series or have you grown a fondness for it like my granddad did for his Snuggie?

I could not imagine anyone else taking over from DA in the Natural History Doc genre.
Who would you have replace him?

The only person I can think of, and even this guy is not on par, is that Scottish guy who has a serie on geology. Can't think of the name of the series or his stupid name either.
