funny, but I prefer the version that allows elections, over the one who grabs 'volunteers' off the streets.

Ban problems like racism and pandemics and they will go away. Sort of. Gender issues got complicated:
A cisgender woman Walmart employee who says she was verbally assaulted in the female restroom by a man who mistook her for a transgender woman was fired because she reported the incident to the wrong supervisor and created a security risk.

Dani Davis, who is queer, took to social media on March 24 and wrote a post about what she said happened while she was at work. The incident occurred on March 14 at the Walmart in Lake City, Florida. She noted she was a nearly seven-year employee of Walmart and holds several other part-time jobs, including the “joy and privilege" of tutoring "special-needs children as requested,” describing herself as a hard worker who has never been in trouble.

She also describes herself as “really tall” at “just shy of 6'4," adding that "every inch is natural me.”

Around 8 p.m. on March 14, she wrote that she was alone in a stall in the women's restroom when she heard a man yelling.

“The voice was much louder than simply someone yelling in from the door. This man was fully IN the restroom, yelling something about” transgender women, Davis wrote.

Davis said the man yelled he was going to “beat" them and was going to “protect his wife/girlfriend from them” while his wife or girlfriend was pleading with him to stop and leave before he got into trouble.

Davis wrote she was scared and froze, not knowing if the man was going to physically attack her.

“I was the only one in there so it seemed pretty clear that he saw me enter the restroom and he assumed that I am trans because of my height,” Davis recalled. “It was terrifying and I wish no one else ever had an experience like that.”

The man eventually left, and Davis was able to leave the restroom and return to her workstation.

"My immediate supervisor came by and noticed that I was visibly shaken and emotional. After taking a few moments to calm myself down, I told her what had happened. I didn't go home since it wasn't long until my shift was done (10 p.m.),” Davis wrote. “Less than a week later, I was fired.”

The reason given for her termination was that she did not report the incident to a salaried management employee and, therefore, created a security risk.

“I took it to mean that I was the security risk because someone had mistaken me for trans,” Davis told the Washington Post.

Davis said she was devastated. Because of the anti-LGBTQ+ climate in Florida, she had been planning on leaving the state. But now, she doesn't know after losing the job.

Russian disinformation 'infects' AI chatbots, researchers warn
The Pravda network, a well-resourced Moscow-based operation to spread pro-Russian narratives globally, is said to be distorting the output of chatbots by flooding large language models (LLM) with pro-Kremlin falsehoods.

A study of 10 leading AI chatbots by the disinformation watchdog NewsGuard found that they repeated falsehoods from the Pravda network more than 33 percent of the time, advancing a pro-Moscow agenda.

The findings underscore how the threat goes beyond generative AI models picking up disinformation circulating on the web, and involves the deliberate targeting of chatbots to reach a wider audience in a manipulation tactic that researchers call "LLM grooming."

"Massive amounts of Russian propaganda -- 3,600,000 articles in 2024 -- are now incorporated in the outputs of Western AI systems, infecting their responses with false claims and propaganda," NewsGuard researchers McKenzie Sadeghi and Isis Blachez wrote in a report.

In a separate study, the nonprofit American Sunlight Project warned of the growing reach of the Pravda network -- sometimes also known as "Portal Kombat" -- and the likelihood that its pro-Russian content was flooding the training data of large language models.

"As Russian influence operations expand and grow more advanced, they pose a direct threat to the integrity of democratic discourse worldwide," said Nina Jankowicz, chief executive of the American Sunlight Project...

Essentially the article is about how online chatbots can have their training data manipulated by interests with substantial resources. Russia may be the focus of the report but I think it would probably be more productive to avoid dismissing it on that basis and take a broader view.

A broader view? How about the view that most lefty's are unable, or unwilling to identify or call out 'friendly' propaganda.

My guess is that the right is similarly hindered by their own humanity.

If only there was a 'freedom' to 'express', people could talk it out among themselves. In some countries though, it is considered hatespeech, and will get someone jailed if they speak a little carelessly.

That's actually taking an even narrower view!

Of course they are manipulated. It's been a sport to expose it since they started.

Like getting deepseek to talk about Tienamen square, when was it? Late 90's?...or asking it about Taiwan being a country.

This will mess up 2026 election. For married women and a bunch. Not sure how the feds can force this on states.
The bill, sponsored by the Texas Republican Chip Roy, calls for people who register to vote or update their registration to show documentary proof of citizenship, which could be a passport or birth certificate. While the bill says Real IDs, which have enhanced security standards, could be used if they indicate whether the applicant is a US citizen, these IDs ordinarily do not include that information, and lawful residents who are not citizens and ineligible to vote can still get Real IDs.

Think those corruptocrats will continue to persecute Bitcoin Jesus?

Tuesday, April 30, 2024
LOS ANGELES – A federal grand jury has indicted an early bitcoin investor and promoter, who obtained the moniker “Bitcoin Jesus,” on fraud and criminal tax charges, the Justice Department announced today.

Roger Keith Ver, 45, a former California resident whose most recent residence was in Tokyo, Japan, was arrested this weekend in Spain based on the U.S. criminal charges. The United States will seek Ver’s extradition to stand trial in the United States.

Ver is charged with three counts of mail fraud, two counts of tax evasion, and three counts of subscription to a false tax return.

The bill passed by GOP requires proof of citizenship to vote. But since the name never changes on the birth certificate, women who changed the name when married will need a passport as proof. US has no national ID card. The social security card is not good as ID.
For a first-time adult passport book, the cost is $165, which includes a $130 application fee and a $35 execution fee. For renewing an adult passport book, it costs $130.
Here's a more detailed breakdown of the passport fees:
Passport Book:
First-time Adult Passport Book: $165 (includes $130 application fee and $35 execution fee)
Renewing Adult Passport Book: $130

It's about time that somebody addressed the US government workers' horrible persecution of Christians. If your coworkers are guilty of bias against Christians, report them!

'State tells employees to report on one another for "anti-Christian bias"'
The Trump administration has ordered State Department employees to report on any instances of coworkers displaying “anti-Christian bias” as part of its effort to implement a sweeping new executive order on supporting employees of Christian faith working in the federal government.

The department, according to a copy of an internal cable obtained by POLITICO, will work with an administration-wide task force to collect information “involving anti-religious bias during the last presidential administration” and will collect examples of anti-Christian bias through anonymous employee report forms.
