Strange bedfellows
I've been thinking of the intersections between extremist groups such as Islamic jihadists and right-wing neo-Nazi racists...
* both would be strongly anti gay or gender fluid people
* both are not fans of women being regarded as the equals of men in all aspects of life
* both have a strong anti-Jewish component
* both have difficulties with a scientific, evolutionary view of life
* both would revile atheists
* both believe that their beliefs allow or even require extreme violence against those they view as opponents
* neither are fans of pluralist compromise in political decision making
* both would regard rule by "strong men" as valuable
I'm sure there are more. This, of course, does not mean that there are not powerful divisions, or that right wing nutters will not blow up mosques if the opportunity arises...

Islamics are collectivists, why they appeal to the far left. With the far right it goes to the bunker and the opposite of collectivism. Don't see there being any room for overlap - obvious there are similarities in carnage and hate, but the engines are going in the polar opposite directions.

Nazis were collectivists as well, or you would not have a Reich. Not all current right wingers have a libertarian, anti-collectivist tinge...

Nazis were supernaturalists first and foremost. Why people are always arguing about their politics. It didn't exactly make sense, and behind the scenes it was chaos.

Where's that image of Trump supporters in their trucks emblazoned with flags, and the same scene with ISIS?

Most people would rather the two groups gutted each other rather than attack honest folk.

The difference is not visible in the photos because it is ideological. Isis is fundamentally theocratic. Trump supporters are fundamentally racist. What both groups have in common is that neither gives a fuck about democracy, but that commonality is not particularly evident in the pairing of those photos either.

The difference is that the Toyotas will survive the extreme conditions they are used in while the US pickups would fail very soon over there.

The Toyota's are used off-road. US pick ups never go off-road (they are too pretty)

Whenever I see those pretty ones, this scene comes to mind.

Re: Strange bedfellows
Trumpers are fundamentally theocratic, too. American Christianity and white supremacy have been intertwined and inseparable for centuries.
I read this book a few months back:
https://www.simonandschuster.com/books/ ... 1982122867
the author runs a polling firm called PRRI:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Public_Re ... _Institute
He's got all this data that shows a strong correlation between religiosity and racism. For example, the more often someone attends church services, the more likely they are to have racist views. The more literally someone believes in heaven and hell, the more likely they are to hold racist views. People who identify with no religious affiliation are almost statistically not racist at all. Areas where slavery was more prevalent now tend to be more socially and economically conservative, and tend to be more Republican and continue to be more racist. Christians like to take credit for the black Civil Rights movement, but in fact it was mostly white, Christian conservatives that opposed the movement. A lot of these white mass murderers (Dylan Roof for example) are bible thumpers.
The modern GOP is made up of all the freaks that go to megachurches and watch televangelism. At the core of the Republican ideology is the belief that a nation's greatness comes not from evil librul stuff like education and egalitarianism, but from its racial and religious composition.

It's more like a fusion of other stuff, primarily televangelism, prosperity gospel, white supremacy, conspiracy idiocy, and most importantly, pro wrestling.
