Slogan for a new Trump/Pence bumper sticker.

'Is Donald Trump mostly evil or mostly ignorant? Bob Woodward's book offers an answer: Both'
It's obvious that Trump has never, from the beginning, cared in the slightest about the pain and suffering caused by this deadly virus.
[...]
We can say now that when it comes to the pandemic at least, malevolence was the driving force behind Trump's decisions.
Great. Another idiotic article published by Salon. The author of this one doesn't know the difference between indifference and malevolence. They are one and the same to her.

NYT journalist hunted out and removed from campaign rally in Freeland. What a snowflake.

I'd be interested in criticism of the idiocy demonstrated in the article beyond questionable diction.

Noting that the secondary definition of malevolent in Merriam-Webster is "productive of harm or evil" and in the Oxford English Dictionary is "Baleful, harmful, injurious."

The Centers for Disease Control are part of the Department of Health and Human Services, and therefore are within the executive branch. Under the expansive interpretation of Article II in the US Constitution that's advanced by Trump and his Attorney General, promoting the political interest of the president is part of their job, I suppose. If that interferes with getting accurate information to the public, so be it.

'Trump officials interfered with CDC reports on Covid-19'
The health department’s politically appointed communications aides have demanded the right to review and seek changes to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s weekly scientific reports charting the progress of the coronavirus pandemic, in what officials characterized as an attempt to intimidate the reports’ authors and water down their communications to health professionals.

In some cases, emails from communications aides to CDC Director Robert Redfield and other senior officials openly complained that the agency’s reports would undermine President Donald Trump's optimistic messages about the outbreak, according to emails reviewed by POLITICO and three people familiar with the situation.

CDC officials have fought back against the most sweeping changes, but have increasingly agreed to allow the political officials to review the reports and, in a few cases, compromised on the wording, according to three people familiar with the exchanges. The communications aides’ efforts to change the language in the CDC’s reports have been constant across the summer and continued as recently as Friday afternoon.

Yeah, but just imagine how much worse it would have been with that nasty woman in charge.

ALL departments are in the executive branch. Other than congress staff, federal employees, a few million, all report to Trump.

To quote a Trumpist: Trump's political operatives need to 'fact-check suspected distortions of the truth [by the CDC], and the liberal complaints [about Trump's political operatives interfering with CDC reports are most properly seen] as evasive maneuvers to avoid being caught with their hand in the cookie jar . . . yet again.'

Trump's people are in fact forcing the CDC to give the American people the Real Truth™, and the Democrats/corrupt libs are complaining because they don't want the Real Truth™ to come out and have their lies about the pandemic exposed. So there.

Genuine Trumpists really are safe in their bubble. Their armour is hardened and impervious: Disdain for 'mainstream media' and distrust of 'so-called experts' in conjunction with a steady flow of rubbish from Trump and the various TrumpNews outlets keeps it so.

It isn't all going Trump's way. Activist judges and the US Constitution again.

'Court blocks Trump order to exclude undocumented immigrants from census'
A federal court ruled Thursday that President Trump's order to exclude undocumented immigrants from census numbers for apportioning congressional districts is unlawful.

A unanimous three-judge panel for the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York said in its decision that Trump's executive memorandum violates the executive branch's "constitutional responsibility to count the whole number of persons in each State and to apportion members of the House of Representatives among the States according to their respective numbers."

"That’s what I hear. I mean, there’s possibly drugs. I don’t know how you can go from being so bad where you can’t even get out a sentence.”

Notice that even in the fog of his pathological lies and dementia, a teeny-tiny part of Trump knows that he’s full of shit, hence the hedging that the Democratic nominee for president of the United States is “probably,” “possibly” on drugs. Still, that doesn’t stop him from floating the idea that there’s no other explanation for Biden performing well on the campaign trail than perhaps that he’s juicing.

the president of the United States accusing the Democratic nominee of doping, which means we’re probably just one interview or rally away from him claiming he saw Biden dealing drugs outside the Washington Monument or that he died eight years ago and was replaced by a body double. At this point, there’s a non-zero chance that Trump will demand Biden be tested for steroids before the debates. Just kidding: he already did that. (“We're going to call for a drug test, by the way, because his best performance was against Bernie,” Trump told the Washington Examiner last month. “It wasn't that he was Winston Churchill because he wasn't, but it was a normal, boring debate. You know, nothing amazing happened

Trump does a skit about Antifa members moving to the suburbs:

“Say darling who moved in next door? Oh it’s a resident of Antifa. Let’s get the hell out of here darling, let’s leave our suburbs. Ugh, I wish Trump was president.”

The Cohen book so far...100 pages... describes Trump as the superficial petson he is. The Cohen parts have a somewhat concocted storybook feel. He describes all his bad deeds but not in a very deep manner."I'm off the hook now." But I will say that analysts and historians will have to consult this as the facts as to why Trump ran. He was bored. He hated and envied Obama and always considered him axforeigner, no matter the facts. That rolled into Twitter birther attacks. There really isn't much else from the Trump camp to go on.
