Re: The Coronavirus Thread
There's a hadith about that as well. Allah sends plagues as a punishment for the unbelievers and as a blessing for the believers. It's a blessing for the believers because plagues open up the great opportunity for any believer to die as a martyr without having to go to war. Every muslim who dies from an infectious disease will receive the awards of martyrs in Paradise (including the 72 virgins and so on).rainbow wrote: ↑Thu Jul 30, 2020 1:49 pmSurely if it were God's will, then only the Infidel would be afflicted?LucidFlight wrote: ↑Thu Jul 30, 2020 10:12 amThe various recommendations on wearing masks should be supplemented with the condition of God's willingness to aid that protection.

So, don't hesitate. Get yourself infected, get a bed in the icu, suffocate from your own blood in your lungs and you'll have a great time in the afterlife. Wait, no, it only works when dying in spite of trying not to get infected. Bummer.

Re: The Coronavirus Thread
Dutch statistics are the best statistics. The Dutch Ministry of Health updates them daily and makes them publicly available. You can download the Dutch health ministry's dataset from here. It's a 2.8 Megabyte CSV file, currently well over 51,000 rows deep, listing every reported positive test result, hospitalisation and Covid death in every municipality and every province. Office Calc, part of the free OpenOffice software suite opens it without a problem.pErvinalia wrote: ↑Thu Jul 30, 2020 9:33 amIt's true that in some cases their stats may not be publicly available, and it's the government that acts as gatekeeper to those stats. But that would be for Scot to prove. And as we know, he doesn't prove anything. It's all feelings for him.
If you can't be bothered playing around with the spreadsheet you could help yourself to the Dutch health ministry's 47 page summary (PDF), which is updated weekly, but it's in Dutch, so you'll have to run it through Google translate.
Then there is the Dutch health ministry's Dashboard, also in Dutch. It is updated daily. It provides stats for the most recent three days. If you click on "More explanation and dates" underneath each section (Intensive care admissions per day, Hospital admissions per day, People tested positive and so on), it pops up charts covering the period from March to the present.

Re: The Coronavirus Thread
RIVM only issues weekly data now as it says daily data fluctuates too much. It also says this is 'best' data. Does the British OSR offer the same in depth 'best' data?

Re: The Coronavirus Thread
So is the death ratio for the NL better or worse than the UK and/or is the NL data more or less political, and as a result have the Dutch gov made better or worse political decisions when considered against your deaths per head of population? You don't seem to want to talk about this Scott - other than saying "Britain bad" that is. We could compare the Dutch experience to the German if you prefer: Has the NL faired better or worse than the Germans?
