Calling Gohmert dumb as a rock would be an insult to rocks. :fp:

We didn't have to wait long. Good ol' boy seldom disappoints.

'GOP Rep. Louie Gohmert Suggests Mask Wearing Gave Him Coronavirus'
Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-TX) on Wednesday suggested that he contracted coronavirus because he wore a mask more frequently in recent days.

“I can’t help but think that if I hadn’t been wearing a mask so much in the last 10 days or so, I really wonder if I would have gotten it,” he said in an interview with The American Independent.

In a later statement on Twitter, he explained that he often touches his face while wearing his mask to make it comfortable. “I can’t help but wonder if that put some germs in the mask,” he said.

The Texas lawmaker, who tested positive on Wednesday morning, had previously made a point of refusing to wear a mask while in the Capitol.

How long do you think he's had it?

Mitch McConnell has warned Democrats not to change any of the Senate’s rules if they win in November. He’s particularly concerned about maintaining the filibuster.

McConnell, speaking from the Senate floor, noted that some progressives want to expand or reform the Supreme Court and that Democrats, more broadly, are calling for Washington, D.C., to be the 51st state.

“And to accomplish all this, destroying the Senate’s distinguishing feature that makes radical change hard by design. We have an entire political movement that is telling us literally out loud that they’ve lost patience with playing by the rules and may well declare war on the rulebook,” McConnell said.

Yeah, we don't want to sully Aaron Burr's legacy by ditching the filibuster, now do we? :coffee:

I love how Jim Jordan, a Right Wing hero, is a feisty Congressman whose employment history is nothing better than a former wrestling coach with an econ degree. And that's cool.

But AOC, a feisty Dem with a Cum Laude degree from BU, is denigrated for being "just a bartender".

This fine upstanding citizen isn't joking or talking figuratively, in my opinion. He means it. Don't mind him, though, he only has the president's ear.

'Trump’s New Adviser Steve Cortes Thinks He Hasn’t Been ‘Fascist’ Enough'
President Donald Trump’s political fortunes took a nosedive when he had federal agents use tear gas to clear out a park across from the White House so he could conduct a photo-op at a nearby church.

But to hear his campaign’s newest senior adviser, Steve Cortes, tell it, Trump’s misstep was not the act of authorizing attacks on peaceful protesters—it was that the president wasn’t even “more of a fascist.”

As the Trump campaign’s new senior adviser for strategy, Cortes has been tasked with helping right the ship of President Donald Trump’s re-election efforts after months of strategic and tactical blunders under newly demoted campaign manager Brad Parscale. Cortes is a familiar presence to television viewers for his appearances on cable programs, but he also hosts a radio show, The Steve Cortes Show. With that platform, he has advocated for an even more authoritarian version of the current president.

“If Trump were the fascist that they pretend that he is, wouldn’t he have cracked down much, much harder on the unrest in the American streets?” Cortes said on The Steve Cortes Show on June 25, less than three weeks after the incident at Lafayette Square. “To be quite honest, you know, when there were people being bloodied, cops being attacked, businesses being smashed, I could have used a tad bit more of a fascist Trump.”

The longer, the better. My hope is that he stays until early November. Gives the Lincoln Project a bit more traction in luring Repugnican voters away from Trump.
