Revealed: oil giants help fund powerful police groups in top US cities
Investigation portrays fossil fuel industry as common enemy in struggle for racial and environmental justice in America

Big corporations accused of driving environmental and health inequalities in black and brown communities through toxic and climate-changing pollution are also funding powerful police groups in major US cities, according to a new investigation.

Some of America’s largest oil and gas companies, private utilities, and financial institutions that bankroll fossil fuels also back police foundations – opaque private entities that raise money to pay for training, weapons, equipment, and surveillance technology for departments across the US.

The investigation by the Public Accountability Initiative, a nonprofit corporate and government accountability research institute, and its research database project LittleSis, details how police foundations in cities such as Seattle, Chicago, Washington, New Orleans and Salt Lake City are partially funded by household names such as Chevron, Shell and Wells Fargo.

(CNN)President Donald Trump filed an amended complaint Monday in New York federal court to argue that the Manhattan district attorney's subpoena for his financial records is "wildly overbroad" and was issued in "bad faith" -- his latest attempt to block access to such records as part of a criminal inquiry.

The amended lawsuit is Trump's effort to block the subpoena to his accounting firm after the Supreme Court ruled earlier this month that a president does not have complete immunity from a state grand jury investigation.

I never understood wind.
You know, I know
windmills very much.
I have studied it
better than anybody
else. It’s very expensive.
They are made in China
and Germany mostly.
—Very few made here, almost none,
but they are manufactured, tremendous
—if you are into this—
tremendous fumes. Gases are
spewing into the atmosphere. You know
we have a world
right?
So the world
is tiny
compared to the universe.
So tremendous, tremendous
amount of fumes and everything.
You talk about
the carbon footprint
— fumes are spewing into the air.
Right? Spewing.
Whether it’s in China,
Germany, it’s going into the air.
It’s our air
their air
everything — right?
A windmill will kill many bald eagles.
After a certain number
they make you turn the windmill off.
That is true.
—By the way
they make you turn it off.
And yet, if you killed one
they put you in jail.
That is OK.
You want to see a bird graveyard?
You just go.
Take a look.
A bird graveyard.
Go under a windmill someday,
you’ll see
more birds
than you’ve ever seen
in your life.

I don't think his later work has the same gravitas, immediacy, or indelible insight into the human condition as his earlier output. :tea:

How is it possible that he has any immunity from a criminal investigation?

Agreed, but the added 17 poems are of vital significance. Granted, they show no intellectual development, but much like analyses of the later paintings by Vincent van Gogh reveal his descent into schizophrenia, Donald Trump's more recent poems expose his increasingly narcissistic and bullying personality. More importantly, by extension those poems confirms the nature more than ever of 40% of the voting public that still likes his poetry.

Some of this was written down at the time of Nixon. People that hold federal jobs, such as president or judge, have to be impeached and removed before they are criminally tried. However, the constitution is unclear, and all these justice department guidelines were invented.
