Argentina pastor turns church into bar in protest at uneven coronavirus restrictions
An evangelical church in Argentina has reopened as a bar in protest against the lockdown on religious services that remains in place despite the gradual opening up of other activities around the country.
Bar tables were placed inside the church and pastors dressed as waiters carrying bibles on their trays in a mock service as part of call for religious services to be allowed during Argentina’s coronavirus lockdown.
“We are standing here today dressed like this, carrying a tray, because it seems this is the only way we can serve the word of God,” pastor Daniel Cattaneo, dressed as a waiter, said as he opened the “worship bar” at the Comunidad Redentor (Redeemer Community) evangelical church in the city of San Lorenzo, in Argentina’s central province of Santa Fe.
“So, apart from the breaded veal headed for table four, here goes the word of God from the house of the Lord to all nations.”...

When the data does not suit you say its wrong. The purveyors of paranoia do not want to give up their power. Why is it two metres in the UK and elsewhere 1,5 metres? Do the Brits spit further?

Yet planes are allowed to be full. Who believes anything these days? It is all political.Mistakes mean findings should not be used as evidence for relaxing rule, say professors
Senior scientists have reported flaws in an influential World Health Organization-commissioned study into the risks of coronavirus infection and say it should not be used as evidence for relaxing the UK’s 2-metre physical distancing rule.
Critics of the distancing advice, which states that people should keep at least 2 metres apart, believe it is too cautious. They seized on the research commissioned by the WHO, which suggested a reduction from 2 metres to 1 would raise infection risk only marginally, from 1.3% to 2.6%.
But scientists who delved into the work found mistakes they believe undermine the findings to the point they cannot be relied upon when scientists and ministers are forming judgments about what constitutes safe physical distancing.

Re: The Coronavirus Thread
One of the things that was weird for me, is that they have changed retail stores, and how they have changed them.
So far, the only real changes are things they make the customers do (distance, masks, limited access etc.)
The simple ones, which would HAVE to be done if this were to be permanent, would be to rearrange the checkout system and reduce the number of aisles to allow more space between.
Neither have been done, at any of the places. It's like they are doing all they can to address this, as long as they don't have to change anything but their customer behaviour. And they CERTAINLY aren't going to give up the selection array of salad dressing. Still need a whole aisle for THAT.
Of course retailers would be cautious about spending money on this change, so they might make the changes later, if it seems important.

Re: The Coronavirus Thread
Over here, shops have changed. There's now plexiglass barriers between the clerk and the customer. Both in supermarkets and in normal stores. Open salad buffets are closed and cannot be used. Restaurants aren't allowed to offer buffets of any kind. Restaurants had to reduce the number of tables. Food and drinks can only be served at tables, not at a bar.
Some shops have security at the door that count number of customers and return customers when there are already too many in the shop. Others have limited the number of shopping carts available and only allow customers with shopping carts inside.

Re: The Coronavirus Thread
After spending years trying to increase footfall and patron throughput retailers are now having to reduce the numbers of customers and police social distancing rules - but I bet their rents haven't gone down. I wonder how long before even the large, established retailers start laying staff off and closing stores?

The super markets are actually making the best business of all times. More people eat at home and do need to buy more groceries.
In Germany there was actually a cooperation between Aldi and McDonald's. MCD had more personnel than they needed because the restaurants were closed except for takeout. Aldi had fewer personnel than they needed to do restocking of shelves in the markets. So, personnel was temporarily transferred from MCD to Aldi.
