Hopefully either the hydroxychloroquine or the rona gets him.

Re: The Trump Pandemic
Trump must further pubish the Chinese WHO:
“It is clear the repeated missteps by you and your organization in responding to the pandemic have been extremely costly for the world,” Trump wrote.
Although Trump at first praised China’s efforts to combat the outbreak earlier this year, he has since shifted to slamming the WHO for allegedly promoting misinformation from Beijing. His letter reiterated many of his accusations.
Trump temporarily suspended U.S. payments in April for 60 days, an unpopular move that critics said was aimed at distracting from his own administration’s response to the pandemic. His ultimatum Monday, which came as WHO member countries conferred about the pandemic, may provoke more backlash at the international level.

Re: The Trump Pandemic
None, but bare numbers are less significant than those that are in relation to the total population of each country. The USA does not fare quite as badly in that regard. With 4558 positive test results per million 11 other countries do worse, and with 272 deaths per million it lies in 13th place. Spain (590), Italy (529), the UK (508), France (423), Sweden (362), the Netherlands (332) and Ireland (311) fare worse in terms of the latter.

I'm sure with Trump at the helm, he'll be able to beat those numbers too.Hermit wrote: ↑Tue May 19, 2020 12:10 pmNone, but bare numbers are less significant than those that are in relation to the total population of each country. Re: The Trump Pandemic
If that comes to pass it'll be due to the fuckwits among the USA's population, encouraged by Trump. After all, he would not have become POTUS unless 46.1% of the voters who bothered to turn up at the polling booths had not cast their vote in his favour.rainbow wrote: ↑Tue May 19, 2020 12:59 pmI'm sure with Trump at the helm, he'll be able to beat those numbers too.Hermit wrote: ↑Tue May 19, 2020 12:10 pmNone, but bare numbers are less significant than those that are in relation to the total population of each country. And as I post 43.8% of them still approve of Trump's presidency.

It might work...he is pretty sensitive about teasing.
Maybe some more of it wouldn't be so bad. Dems are doing it, so it's probably going to be celebrated by the media...
I remember the (very mild, very rare) bits of fat-shaming that were done to me in mean spirit. Fat shaming works a lot better than the alternatives practiced in most western countries, it seems.
China and Japan, as examples, have much more social acceptance of fat shaming, and lower obesity rates.

Re: The Trump Pandemic
It has no value statically. Expressing per million always favours the large countries. Countries whose populations are under a million it is not valid. San Marino has 1,209 deaths per million and has 34,000 population. 13th. place of what? Look at the figures per state gives a totally different picture as would looking at the EU has a whole.Hermit wrote: ↑Tue May 19, 2020 12:10 pmNone, but bare numbers are less significant than those that are in relation to the total population of each country. Sean Conley seems to think it's a good idea for Trump to be taking Hydroxychloroquine.
Of course, you should probably all pay close attention to the mainstream media and their condemnation of the drug, rather than a doctor employed to protect a wealthy nation's head of state...

Re: The Trump Pandemic
Yesterday, Tedros got told.Perhaps worse than all these failings is that we know that the World Health Organization could have done so much better. Just a few years ago, under the direction of a different Director-General, the World Health Organization showed the world how much it has to offer. In 2003, in response to the outbreak of the Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS) in China, Director-General Harlem Brundtland boldly declared the World Health Organization's first emergency travel advisory in 55 years, recommendingagainst travel to and from the disease epicenter in southern China. She also did not hesitate to criticize China for endangering global health by attempting to cover up the outbreak through its usual playbook of arresting whistleblowers and censoring media. Many lives could have been saved had you followed Dr. Brundtland's example.
It is clear the repeated missteps by you and your organization in responding to the pandemic have been extremely costly for the world. The only way forward for the World Health Organization is if it can actually demonstrate independence from China. My Administration has already started discussions with you on how to reform the organization. But action is needed quickly. We do not have timeto waste. That is why it is my duty, as President of the United States, to inform you that, if the World Health Organization does not commit to major substantive improvements within the next 30 days, I will make my temporary freeze of United States funding to the World Health Organization permanent and reconsider our membership in the organization. I cannot allow American taxpayer dollars to continue to finance an organization that, in its present state, is so clearly not serving America's interests.
Sincerely,

Re: The Trump Pandemic
I don't, I typed it off an image of the letter. I'm sure the full letter will be transcribed. More to the point, it will probably be quote-mined by both sides.
Mainly, I wanted to show that he is OUT of the WHO, and clearly. I heard a funny earlier where the US threatened to reduce WHO funding to the level of China's contribution (the US had been putting much more in than was China) but this is an even larger threat.
They HAVE gotten a lot wrong, and it kind of looks like they knuckle under to EVERYONE, so I don't disagree with him pulling funding. I think it is impossible to hold their place though...to get along with all the countries requires diluting their main purpose, since leaders often want to massage the message, if you know what I mean.
Maybe there is room for a 'blockchain WHO' in the future...an unforgiving and incorruptable global organization sounds a bit too 'Terminator 2' to me though...

Re: The Trump Pandemic
The WHO declared a global Health emergency on January 31st. The countries that reacted very soon are fine now. The countries that didn't start preparations at that moment are in a bad situation...
