BTW I'm pretty sure he did call it a miracle cure without qualifications at some point. I swear I read a transcript. I just can't find it. Probably because all my searches reveal my bias and take me to fun --but not very helpful-- stuff like what Seabass posted.

Can someone post where he called it a miracle cure without qualifications?

What I saw contained "ifs" and "hopes".
He tweeted that the drug had "a real chance of being one of the biggest game changers in the history of medicine," and in press briefing last month he said that it was "a great malaria drug... it's worked unbelievably... it's a powerful drug... on malaria... and there's signs that it works on this, some very strong signs... [...] .. what do you have to lose? Take it. I really think they should take it." But this statement was made after FOX had promoted the drug, either as a possible treatment or as a cure, more than 60 times in 3 days, including interviewing the author of the Google Doc which Elon Musk tweeted (since removed) that claimed it was a treatment with a 100% success rate. So although I don't think he's used the words "miracle cure" it's understandable why people might apply that kind of term to it. I wouldn't be surprised if it turns out that FOX etc had used those words on his behalf.

I don't see what's so funny about not being able to produce a video of him calling the drug a miracle cure without qualifications.

And yeah, if a person qualifies their claim with "ifs", and "hopes", and "we'll see", "maybe", blah, blah, blah, then they haven't made as strong a claim as what you're saying. So, when people hear you say he called it a miracle cure and then go on to listen to him pepper his claim with possible doubts they're going to think you're full of shit.
You're being ridiculous.

So if he were to say, "Bleach. Try it. If you'd like. I'm not a doctor, but I'm a smart guy, I have a good feeling about it. Bleach. What have you got to lose? I'm no doctor, but if bleach works, it could be a gift from heaven"... you'd be ok with it? Nothing wrong with that?

You may be thinking of 'it was like a miracle' which still isn't the exact idea and phrasing, though it may have struck you as such at the time.

'Trump Tells The Story Of A 'Miracle' Cure For COVID-19. But Was It?'
At Tuesday's White House coronavirus task force briefing, Trump told the story of a woman from Michigan who was sick with COVID-19 — a story he had seen on television the night before.

"She was just in horrible shape for 12 days, 14 days," Trump said. "She thought she was dead." The president said she implored her husband to obtain hydroxychloroquine, and the husband did so.

"Four hours later, she awoke and she said, I feel better," Trump recalled. "And then, shortly thereafter, she felt great."

"The way she spoke," Trump said, "it was like a miracle. And this was not a fan of mine, but she's a fan of my now."

To be clear, the president acknowledged that it doesn't always turn out this way. But waiting for scientific evidence that a drug is effective is not something the president was eager to do.

Gawd, he's such a clown!

I guess he says enough stupid shit that it is a bit absurd to suggest his opponents aren't being entirely fair. At least you're asking to look like a fool if you challenge them on any one inaccuracy in the reporting of his stupidity.

By the time you've shown he didn't say that stupid thing, he's made 20 other dumb comments!

You can't have it both ways. If one's bad, so is the other. If one is fine, so is the other.

Whether or not he actually literally called it a "miracle cure", he's been pushing it when he shouldn't have.

One is a drug that experts said showed promise, the other is bleach. I can clearly have hope in one and not the other.

Both are potentially lethal in large enough doses, and neither has been shown to work on coronavirus in clinical trials. Even worse, the hoarding of hydroxychloroquine by Trump loving morons has made it harder for lupus patients to obtain.

What he's done is wrong, bad, stupid, and harmful, whether or not he used the exact phrase "miracle cure".

None of you seem bothered that Cuomo said pretty much the same thing.

Anyway, I do remember 'miracle' from him...I think he said it worked like a miracle, but he absolutely said the drug showed promise, rather than claiming it was a miracle cure.

Most times, when CNN or whoever shows a clip saying Trump said something stupid, you only need to go listen to his speech yourself to judge whether they heard him right. (they quite often don't)

No, experts didn't say that
But Chinese researchers published a preprint clinical study that, they said, found patients treated with hydroxychloroquine recovered quicker than those who weren’t given the drug.
Preliminary indications suggest hydroxychloroquine may be effective in the treatment of COVID-19 patients, Dr. Ken Farber, president and CEO of the Lupus Research Alliance, said during the teleconference.
Hydroxychloroquine and chloroquine are under investigation in clinical trials for pre-exposure or post-exposure prophylaxis of SARS-CoV-2 infection, and treatment of patients with mild, moderate, and severe COVID-19. More information on clinical trials can be found at ClinicalTrials.govexternal icon. FDA issued an Emergency Use Authorization (EUA)external icon to authorize use of chloroquineexternal icon and hydroxychloroquineexternal icon from the Strategic National Stockpile for treatment of hospitalized adults and adolescents (weight ≥50 kg) with COVID-19 for whom a clinical trial is not available or participation is not feasible.
South Korean disease experts have begun to recommend the use of a combination of antiviral and anti-malaria drugs for patients of the new strain of coronavirus.

Kwon Jun-wook, deputy head of the Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, said Thursday at a regular press briefing the recommendations come from multiple groups, and that the government is ready to apply the recommendations to patients "where necessary," Newsis reported.
