Really though, what are they supposed to do? I'm sure the bailout won't cover their expenses. How many people are going to lose their apartments? Have the feds offered to force landlords to share the burden? Why should the American people have to pay yet again for the lack of preparation that is in all likelihood in large part the result of looking out for the bottom line just ahead of any disaster?
The latest fad is a poverty social. Every woman must wear calico,
and every man his old clothes. In addition each is fined 25 cents if
he or she does not have a patch on his or her clothing. If these
parties become a regular thing, says an exchange, won't there be
a good chance for newspaper men to shine?

Something I got caught on...I LIKE Fauci. He speaks well, and sounds reasonable. (especially next to his boss)

Now, I get it when people blame Trump (a bit) for responding poorly. He should know what he's doing, directing people.

But what about Fauci?

He has been in his field for decades. If anyone should have been well-prepared for this, it should be him.

So while my politician was in an interview last night, saying that we normal people have to stop moving, to save lives, I wonder how many lives might be lost due to poor preparation?

Like stockpiles of medical supplies.

Plans.

Training. We've had damn near everyone I know go into some sort of intersectional-bullshit training to be more inclusive. Not fucking ONE of them has had mass fatality plans covered.

Too damned few have medical training. An old runner I knew was a medical administrator in the US army. He had responsibilities which were beyond my ken, and mostly took place in offices and spreadsheets. So why did he get checked out as a ground vehicle mechanic, and a nurse-aid?

Because he might be standing there when one was needed.

Any bit of poor preparation you see, is the fault of those who were in those roles for the last decade (or THREE in some cases). How many politicians are taking personal responsibility for that kind of shortcoming? (vs how many are insisting that the populace MUST move to save these lives)

Fauci could only do what Trump funded.

Example: Puerto Rico. A paper towel roll. They needed electricity.

I rather agree with the sentiment... to me, it feels the leaders of confining states are cutting off their collective noses to spite their face. that oubreak is not good (but it could have been much easier to handle if our ruler hadn't shrunk the ability of the health system to handle stuff over the last few decades), but I'd not swear it's bad enough to destroy the economy in a move that I'd not be surprised could cause a crisis of an extant unseen for a century.

Fauci worked on this for decades before Trump ever ran for president.

And Puerto Rico? They needed government.
They did get aid.
In 2018, nearly a year after Hurricane Maria devastated Puerto Rico, reports surfaced that piles of food and supplies were left to rot in semi truck trailers, and ended up eaten by rats and other vermin.

This was while San Juan mayor Carmen Yulín Cruz used every opportunity to try to blame Trump, saying that D.C. wasn’t sending enough aid.

CBS reported in 2018: Donated food sent to Puerto Rico in the aftermath of Hurricane Maria were left to rot in a parking lot of a government facility, CBS News corresondent David Begnaud reported Friday. Additionally, about 10 containers filled with non-perishable supplies sat at the government facility for 11 months.

And this week another warehouse full of US survival supplies was found in Puerto Rico.

A gigantic warehouse was discovered in Puerto Rico this week that was filled with US Survival aid sent there two years ago after the devastation of Hurricane Maria.

Trump IS government. Whether he likes it or not. All the executive action is Trump, not Nancy, not Mitch.

what was the question on Fauci? Anyway, he is not an executive in the BIG DAILY STUFF of HHS. HHS proper handles epidemics, so does CDC.

Fauci heads this
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_ ... s_Diseases
which is mainly a research and funding of research organization. They can launch into vaccines or whatever, but their primary function is strictly research. Occasionally policy. If we suddenly find out at that LEAD is an allergen, then we would launch into action that would involve legistlation. Still, they are just advisors.

Other parts of https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_St ... n_Services
handle the day to day things a president can directs or decide on. Number of ventilators to stock etc.

How do you feel about Pelosi pushing that open borders bill in late January?

Or is it only bad if it is Trump?

I've heard it said that government fears some deaths more than others. One kind that is politically ruinous are 'triage deaths'.

Most of what I hear from ALL politicians is directing everything onto citizens - it's up to US.

Fair enough, but every single one of them could have pressed for better stockpiles of medical gear, or locally-manufactured products and energy, or any of a dozen other things that could be beneficial right now.

Nope...they are, for the most part, ignoring the YEARS of time some have spent in government NOT doing this. Like I said about Pelosi's most recent open borders legislation - she could have been trying to do something more valuable, but open borders are most valuable to her, even in a pandemic.

Even with her fellow Democrats loudly critical of government for acting too slowly on this pandemic.

So you don't care that Federal government wanted to keep borders open. Gotcha.

Is that because it wasn't Trump making that particular fuckup? Is that why you don't care about it? Because that is the way it seems.

Yes, Cuomo said there was a promising new drug being studied. Very smart of him to do it. He's the bestest. Must be a Democrat.

If a Republican said it, it would be impeachable, of course. At least an investigation would have to be started. If he was a Republican, that is.

Is this your letter? Thought so:
Nancy Pelosi laughs when asked about the average Joe not getting a paycheck while she plays politics. She wants 16 year-olds to vote, get rid of voter ID, open the borders, the green new deal, ballot harvesting, federalizing elections, changing the Constitution by repealing the 2nd Amendment, forgiving college loan debt by including these and many other nutty socialist ideas wrapped up in the Wuhan Flu Corvid 19 virus legislation. What a reprehensible & despicable human being Pelosi is. Throw Schumer in there too.

THAT'S the spirit!

Now, how about assigning blame based on number of years in public office?

Trump has had more than 1, and things are still fucked, so get rid of him.

Who else has more than a year in, with no progress to show for it?
