Trump May Be Even More Unpopular Than His Approval Rating Shows
For one, in this hyper-partisan era, presidential approval numbers have become increasingly polarized and don’t move around all that much, so they may now say more about which “side” people are on (pro-Trump or anti-Trump, Republican or Democrat) than voters’ actual evaluation of how the president is doing.

Ah. Polls. Why didn't I think of that?...we (Enns and Schuldt) have worked to develop a hopefully more nuanced approach to measuring presidential approval, where we ask respondents...

Re: All Things Trump: Is it over yet?
Depends on who you talk to. Trump had a reputation for dodginess long before he became a politician. I've thought of him as a thoroughgoing mountebank since I first heard of him and his behavior (over three decades ago).Cunt wrote: ↑Sun Feb 16, 2020 10:39 pmHe is pretty dodgy. That might be Washington rubbing off on him. Before that, he was only thought of as stupid and boorish.pErvinalia wrote: ↑Sun Feb 16, 2020 9:39 pmYes, it couldn't have anything to do with the fact that Trump is dodgy as all fuck.
Re: All Things Trump: Is it over yet?
I don't know what mountebank means, but he is doing pretty well now. Seems ethical, and awfully restrained.
He probably wanted to fire a bunch of folks as he started (like Obama, and others before him) but with all the exciting investigations going (well - they WERE exciting at the time) it would have looked bad.
So he waited until the impeachment was done before clearing out the holdovers.
The problem with people trying to claim he is like Hitler have a hard time finding his victims.
They keep chasing suspicious deaths...
Just kidding.
Seriously though, he has hardly killed anyone - even people who are openly criticising him, even if they are holding a bloodied, severed head made to look like him.

Re: All Things Trump: Is it over yet?
To be fair, JimC, the Dems have had their attack (since he took office) and now they have offered up everything they had.
Now he gets a turn.
While they are tearing their credibility apart with their primary shennannigans.
What do you expect he'll do? Now that he is (as I predict) less restrained, I mean. (I understand you may disagree with my prediction)

So I was comparing 'restrained Trump' to what I predict you will be getting now. Less-restrained Trump.Trump Post-impeachment-dismissed wrote:60-odd NSA staff given the boot

Am I making some wild mistake here? I'm only really saying the investigations were causing him to exercise restraint, and they are done now.
Except Durham. Might be coming after him with something from that end.
