Yep. The term American statesman is an oxymoron. Since the right wing took over America has never looked forward.
They got away with Reaganomics and are still pulling the wool over the eyes of the voters. The turkeys are voting for xmas (with the help of the Russians of course).

Anonymous tell-all book likens Trump to '12-year-old in air traffic control tower' – report
Book by figure described as administration official says colleagues considered mass resignations to raise alarm, according to Washington Post

In the book, the author describes Trump’s approach to the presidency as “like a 12-year-old in an air traffic control tower, pushing the buttons of government indiscriminately, indifferent to the planes skidding across the runway and the flights frantically diverting away from the airport”.

The author also describes how Trump’s impulsive Twitter antics often left senior officials “waking up in the morning ‘in a full-blown panic’”.

“It’s like showing up at the nursing home at daybreak to find your elderly uncle running pantsless across the courtyard and cursing loudly about the cafeteria food, as worried attendants tried to catch him,” the author writes, according to the Post. “You’re stunned, amused, and embarrassed all at the same time. Only your uncle probably wouldn’t do it every single day, his words aren’t broadcast to the public, and he doesn’t have to lead the US government once he puts his pants on.”

In most countries other than third world dictatorships, revelations of this nature (and all the others before) would force a resignation...
It's still true over here as well, for everyone except Trump, apparently. A Democratic congresswoman recently resigned after it became known that she had a romantic relationship with a staffer. Trump just ploughs through his scandals. This isn't normal, or at least it wasn't before Trump. The question now is, is this the new normal for the GOP, or will things go back to normal after Trump?

I would say it will get worse. Just wait when his daughter runs for president. You will see dirty and corruption on a completely new scale.

‘Trump basically turned me into a Democrat’: Working-class white women drifting away from the president
The 2020 presidential campaign has been engrossed in a debate over which demographic groups Democrats should devote most of their attention to in order to reclaim the White House. African-Americans in urban areas? Rural voters who flipped from Barack Obama to Trump? Newly emerging but unreliable young people?

But the one pivotal group showing the most evident signs of splitting from the president are white working-class women, according to a review of polling data, focus groups and interviews with more than a dozen party strategists and voters like Heather.

It's these voters packed in eastern Iowa, central Minnesota, southwestern Wisconsin, northern Ohio and throughout Michigan who will wield outsize influence over Trump's 2020 fate. Republican pollster Patrick Ruffini calls these women the essential voter as it relates to the Electoral College.

"If I could talk to one voter in the country, it would be a non-college-educated white woman," he said. "It's definitely the kind of voter Trump can't lose."

in fact Trump can't lose any votes. he has not gained any.
