All things Boris: has it really come to this?

Barring an intervention by the second coming of Jesus or alien invasion Boris Johnson is about to become the UK's next unelected Prime Minister. Some are predicting tears and woe, others shits and giggles, perhaps political confusion, perhaps Churchillian resolution, maybe an early general election, an implosion of the Tory party, a second Brexit Referendum, rebellion in Scotland and Northern Ireland, or possibly all of the above. Who knows?

One thing's pretty clear though...
Johnson is the spawn of two institutions – Eton and Oxford – that, at least in his day, taught men to assume that they were going to be in charge; of what scarcely mattered. Their principal bequest to their alumni was a potent brew of nonchalance, presumption and confidence. Of course, life has a way of draining a surfeit of such attributes from most people, but not all. Even in his darkest hour Johnson has never faltered in his belief that he is different, better, and destined for greatness.

I heard a few MPs are going to defect to the LibDems if Boris is elected. The shambles continues.

Look on the bright side. He's not as bad as Trump.

Is this another victim of British politics? It seems like the majority want to leave the EU, and a large minority (powerful minority) resist it with every screech, and insist that it is causing division.

When it hasn't even happened yet, because of the minority...

It is actually quite easy. A woman has at least one X chromosome.

Ah, but that's only because a powerful minority have turned the heads of the majority... into a... ...wait... ... a majority!

We find out officially some time this week, don't we? And then I guess the question is does the new PM continue with Parliament's long summer holiday? Could be a lot more waiting before anything serious happens, which might be a blessing. Alternatively it might be a question of how quickly can Johnson massively cock things up before parliament even has a chance to do anything about it. Happy thoughts, happy thoughts.
[Disclaimer - if this is comes across like I think I know what I'm talking about, I want to make it clear that I don't. I'm just trying to get my thoughts down]

He's dropped hints that he might suspend Parliament in the weeks before the 31 October exit date to stop them pesky elected representatives doing silly things like voting down his government. His problems will be the same as Mrs May's - the Irish border, the Democratic Unionist Party, and the members of his own party who can see their political fortunes slipping down the U-bend where they'll likely rot for a generation.

Yes. Yes, it has come to this. And this is just the beginning. Gird your loins, gentlemen, we aren't yet engulfed by the Clusterfuck Singulrity, but you can see it from here.
Yeah well that's just, like, your opinion, man.
