Published by the Breakthrough National Centre for Climate Restoration in Melbourne (an independent think tank focused on climate policy) and authored by a climate researcher and a former fossil fuel executive, the paper's central thesis is that climate scientists are too restrained in their predictions of how climate change will affect the planet in the near future.

Too late. Not driving my cardboard to the blue bin. Next, I'll skip composting my organics. I'm glad it's over, to be honest. The sky has been falling for so long, I forgot how nice it was to live in this world. I mean, it still might go to shit, but at least I don't have to listen to people begging me to save it anymore.

Maybe I'll upgrade to an f-250...could get a trailer for camping trips instead of a tent.

I don't feel particularly responsible for the state of the planet, and for that reason I don't feel particularly empowered to change it. I recycle because it makes sense to me, and it is available to me.

I could use a truck, but nothing huge. I gotta say, being in Texas I see a lot of wasted big trucks. However, I see a shitton of f-150s and smaller trucks that are actually work trucks.

The news here just put a story including photos of the local blue-bin being dumped at the landfill.

Further investigation showed that they USED to send it overseas for 'recycling' (I think it means dumping our trash on a corrupt-enough government that the box gets ticked) but now the market is different.

Recycling might be ok, but my guess is that as soon as the government gets involved, it should be assumed to be wasteful and hilarious.

Just like the jet-setters telling us to smarten up about climate change.

I can appreciate the cynicism that comes from learning about our good deeds being wasted by corruptible officials. However, the tendency of the right is to take an example of corruption and attempt to discredit the whole effort.
