Has the stock price nosedived yet?
11% on the 11th March, did a dead cat bounce and dropped again when the US finally realised it's a good idea to ground all 737 Max 8s.

First signs are far from encouraging:

Boeing 737 Max Hit Trouble Right Away, Pilot’s Tense Radio Messages Show
ADDIS ABABA, Ethiopia — The captain of a doomed Ethiopian Airlines jetliner faced an emergency almost immediately after takeoff from Addis Ababa, requesting permission in a panicky voice to return after three minutes as the aircraft accelerated to abnormal speed, a person who reviewed air traffic communications said Thursday.

“Break break, request back to home,” the captain told air traffic controllers as they scrambled to divert two other flights approaching the airport. “Request vector for landing.”

Controllers also observed that the aircraft, a new Boeing 737 Max 8, was oscillating up and down by hundreds of feet — a sign that something was extraordinarily wrong.

Ethiopian Airlines crash: thousands turn out for funeral service
Empty caskets parade through Addis Ababa a day after relatives of 157 victims began receiving earth from crash site

The US Federal Aviation Administration has said satellite-based tracking data shows that the movements of Ethiopian Airlines flight 302 were similar to those of Lion Air flight 610, which crashed off Indonesia in October, killing 189 people. Both involved Boeing 737 Max 8 planes.

The planes in both crashes flew with erratic altitude changes that could indicate the pilots struggled to control the aircraft. Shortly after their takeoffs, both crews tried to return to the airports but crashed.

The US and many other countries have now grounded the Max 8s as Boeing faces the challenge of proving the jets are safe to fly amid suspicions that faulty sensors and software contributed to the two crashes that killed 346 people in less than six months.
They should have grounded after the Lion Air crash. Boeing has blood on its hands. Who is ever going to trust corporate greed? This is poor corporate terrorism.

Or stupid pilots. Consider the airlines involved. This is why I don't fly 3rd world airlines, i used up all my luck on Egypt Air.

Apparently US pilots turn off most of the autopilot functions. There is still some feature that keeps you oncourse.

In the case of Lion Air, the onus lies on Boeing entirely.

'Boeing failed to inform the pilots about the new stall recovery system (MCAS) on 737MAX, which linked to Lion Air crash'
Southwest and American Airlines pilots flying Boeing 737MAX says that they were “kept in the dark” about the new “Manoeuvring Characteristics Augmentation System” on 737MAX, that linked to the Lion Air 737MAX crash last month.

Jon Weaks, president of the Southwest Airlines Pilots Association, said in an interview Monday the airline and the pilots “were kept in the dark.”.. “We do not like the fact that a new system was put on the aircraft and wasn’t disclosed to anyone or put in the manuals,” What’s more, he noted, Boeing and the Federal Aviation Administration have now warned “that the system may not be performing as it should.”

...

Last Tuesday [Novermber 6, 2018], after the crash Boeing sent out a warning bulletin to all 737MAX operators, and the next day the FAA issued an emergency airworthiness directive mandating that all airlines make pilots aware of the procedure.
Once it was known by the public and pilots that the MCAS was implicated in the Lion Air crash and the bulletins had been issued, the blame may fall partly on airlines that failed to inform pilots or pilots who neglected to pay attention to the information, but I think it's still mostly on Boeing.

Boeing did not want anyone to know plain and simple. The public are not important.

Yeah, it sounds like sales were helped by assuring airlines that the planes were essentially the same as previous generations. This saved the airlines money on training and made the planes more attractive.

But the airlines and pilots share a lot of the blame here. It's your responsibility as a pilot to know about the systems on any aircraft you're flying, isn't it? You mean to tell me you didn't know about the existence of the MCAS and you were flying that plane, or you knew about it but not how to work with it? That's not crazy...

No. No. You aren’t reading SD’s posts properly. He knows whose fault it is - Boeing...and the ‘rotten American system’. Pay attention please!
