Ethiopian Airlines crash: Boeing faces safety questions over 737 Max 8 jets
Re: Ethiopian Airlines crash: Boeing faces safety questions over 737 Max 8 jets
Is it just the Max series that's affected? If so it's only about 350 aircraft.

Boeing a trustworthy company? anything they made since the 747 Jumbo Jest is of questionable quality... I'd not even be surprised if the next order for an Air Force One plane went to Airbus because not even the US government is corrupt enough to buy boeing.

Politically impossible. I think Airbus won a tender for tankers for the USAF on technical grounds but failed to get contract. Same for helicopters for the Pres.

Airbus has always been advanced technically over Boeing but Boeing uses it vast military income to give big discounts (under the table of course) to its civil customers. Ever since the arrival of Airbus Boeing has used every trick in the book to disrupt Airbus sales.

The amazing story of how the Airbus A320 became the Boeing 737’s greatest rival
The Airbus A320 is the second best-selling airliner of all time behind the Boeing 737.
Through the end of November, Airbus has sold 14,421 aircraft belonging to the A320-family compared to 15,026 orders for the Boeing 737.
Over the years, Airbus has expanded the A320 into a family of jets including the stretched A321 as well as the smaller A319 and A318.
The A320 family is also known for its innovative use of fly-by-wire control systems as well as a pioneering of cockpit commonality.

This is what Boeing does not want:
Australia and Singapore suspend Boeing 737 Max operations after crash
Australia and Singapore suspend Boeing 737 Max operations after crash
Civil aviation authorities say suspensions issued as they await more information on Ethiopian Airlines crash
Australia and Singapore have suspended operations of all Boeing 737 Max aircraft in and out of their airports, after Indonesia and China grounded their fleets of the US plane manufacturer’s latest model, which suffered a second fatal crash in less than five months on Sunday.
The scare has wiped billions of dollars off the market value of the world’s biggest planemaker, as the Boeing shares closed 5% down on Monday having fallen by as much as 13.5% at one point. Nearly 40% of the in-service fleet of 371 Boeing 737 Max jets globally have been grounded, according to industry publication Flightglobal, including 97 jets in the biggest market, China

I'm going to wait for Galazian to give me the facts before I decide what really happened.

It looks like it'll turn out to be pilot error in both cases. (--replace "it looks like" with "I reckon" for the full effect--)

Well Boeing will see to that of course.
Airbus should offer discounts on their airworthy plane.
