That was sloppy on her part, but she's clearly not an anti-semite.

I would be really interested to know how monolithic is the support for the current Israeli government by American Jews. I've read that a lot of them, while supporting the right of Israel to exist, are very critical of policies such as settlement, excessive force against protestors etc.

Having said that, it may well be that the conservative Jews that do support the Israeli government have a disproportionate political clout, and can generate the finances to support their political agenda.

define 'conservative" jew?

Do you mean Jews who vote GOP? or the classical meaning of Conservative Jew, that is a Jew who, without falling into the excesses of haredim black hats are still observant and conservative in their practice (no conversion of goyim to Judaism, no women rabbis, fasting for yom kippur etc etc...)?

Good point, Svarty. Basically, I meant a politically conservative, Republican voting business-oriented American Jew, who, I would suggest, would align politically with the current Israeli government. To what extent that overlaps with religiously conservative Jews, I am unsure, but I would think that there would be a fair overlap...

A long New Yorker article (well, most of them are so it almost goes without saying) that gives some details on how Fox News has developed a close symbiotic relationship with President Trump. Much has been made of this story in certain circles, but really it doesn't contain anything particularly surprising. Its depth of detail and presentation of the multifaceted relationship makes it worthwhile.

Nobody with a few critical neurons to rub together ever believed the 'Fair and Balanced' slogan that Fox News used for so long, and they quietly dropped it about a year and a half ago, in favor of 'Most Watched, Most Trusted.' It's slightly more accurate: most watched [by your wingnut relative], most trusted [by gullible right wingers].

The New Yorker brings an item that didn't get much attention before into prominence--Fox News killed a story about Trump's payoff to his porn star mistress just before the election, and adds another--that somebody at Fox News gave Trump a heads-up about at least one of the questions that he'd get in the debate hosted by the network.

'The Making of the Fox News White House'
In January, during the longest government shutdown in America’s history, President Donald Trump rode in a motorcade through Hidalgo County, Texas, eventually stopping on a grassy bluff overlooking the Rio Grande. The White House wanted to dramatize what Trump was portraying as a national emergency: the need to build a wall along the Mexican border. The presence of armored vehicles, bales of confiscated marijuana, and federal agents in flak jackets underscored the message.

But the photo op dramatized something else about the Administration. After members of the press pool got out of vans and headed over to where the President was about to speak, they noticed that Sean Hannity, the Fox News host, was already on location. Unlike them, he hadn’t been confined by the Secret Service, and was mingling with Administration officials, at one point hugging Kirstjen Nielsen, the Secretary of Homeland Security. The pool report noted that Hannity was seen “huddling” with the White House communications director, Bill Shine. After the photo op, Hannity had an exclusive on-air interview with Trump. Politico later reported that it was Hannity’s seventh interview with the President, and Fox’s forty-second. Since then, Trump has given Fox two more. He has granted only ten to the three other main television networks combined, and none to CNN, which he denounces as “fake news.”

Hannity was treated in Texas like a member of the Administration because he virtually is one. The same can be said of Fox’s chairman, Rupert Murdoch. Fox has long been a bane of liberals, but in the past two years many people who watch the network closely, including some Fox alumni, say that it has evolved into something that hasn’t existed before in the United States. Nicole Hemmer, an assistant professor of Presidential studies at the University of Virginia’s Miller Center and the author of “Messengers of the Right,” a history of the conservative media’s impact on American politics, says of Fox, “It’s the closest we’ve come to having state TV.”

Fox News is planning a shake-up of its pitch to advertisers at the same time as multiple controversies over the tenor and content of its news coverage are sparking calls for a boycott that has already caused some advertisers to flee.

The changes, under a new marketing slogan, “America is watching”, are intended to highlight the channel’s news operations but come as advertisers are increasingly wary of repeated scandals around the its opinion show hosts’ political bias.

In recent months, dozens of advertisers have pulled their ads from Fox shows, threatening to reduce Fox’s access to the lifeblood of advertising revenue, a trend that may accelerate in the wake of several recent, polarizing events.

Last week, a New Yorker story laid out how Fox’s close ties to the Trump administration had led some to accuse it of being a propaganda outlet for administration officials. That was followed by back-to-back incidents involving two of Fox’s most politically unyielding hosts, Jeanine Pirro and Tucker Carlson.

Pirro, a former New York prosecutor, accused Ilhan Omar, the Democratic representative from Minnesota, of placing Sharia law above recognition of constitutional rights, a clearly offensive over-reach that Fox News itself publicly condemned in a statement.

Meanwhile, the Fox host Tucker Carlson has been forced to respond to radio recordings he made to the shock jock Bubba the Love Sponge 10 years ago in which he described women as “extremely primitive” and defended the now convicted polygamous child sexual abuser Warren Jeffs.

Yeah it’s those pesky SJWs and Libtards that are ruining free speech...

Anti-BDS laws are more than words. They are a legal attempt to punish a passive act: Neil Macdonald | CBC News
Back in January, the publisher of a tiny newspaper in Arkansas, standing on journalistic principle, defied the dead hand of government, the way a publisher is supposed to. Publisher Alan Leveritt's scorching article, posted on the website of the American Civil Liberties Association, gladdened the journalistic heart.

Or at least it should have. But we don't know whether it did; the institutions of American journalism, impoverished and increasingly frightened of their own audiences, are mostly maintaining a courageous silence. You'd think they'd be concerned.

Dozens of relatively recent state laws now require anyone who does business with government, including media organizations, to effectively make a pro-Israel pledge, and in some cases, sign one.

The signatory must promise not to in any way limit business activities with Israel or its settlements in the occupied territories, which even the United States considers illegal under international law.

These are the people who write our movies and our sitcoms. They are not shocked by naughty words.
One of the only places left in the United States where independent thoughts are allowed is right here at Fox News -- the opinion hours on this network. Just a few hours in a sea of television programming. It's not much, relatively speaking. For the left, it's unacceptable. It demands total conformity.

Fox News will go down in history as one of the greatest propaganda machines ever created.
Notably, Republicans are significantly more likely to say whites, rather than blacks, experience a lot of discrimination in the U.S. today (43 percent vs. 27 percent, respectively).

I like how they also identify Transgender as a discriminated group. I'm guessing it's because it's socially acceptable to discriminate against them.
