Re: Sweden to ban tobacco
Last one I had was around Christmas, at my nephew's wedding. A good Cuban (can't remember the brand). It was fucking delicious, but I can't do more than a couple a year.
Yeah well that's just, like, your opinion, man.

Re: Sweden to ban tobacco
Got me thinking. If I’m calculating it right I stopped exactly 30 years ago about two weeks back. Cold turkey from well over 40 a day. Best thing I ever did..

Re: Sweden to ban tobacco
well, I never smoked in the first place, and when I see how much alcohol costs me, I'm thinking I could never afford to have both vices at once

Re: Sweden to ban tobacco
They don't have to ban smoking tobacco.
Just ban the SALE of tobacco.
If you want to grow your own, and cure it, then you really do deserve all you get.
Mind you, I've done it, and it's easy enough to grow. Fiddly and long-winded to cure though.

tobacco is a warm to tropical climate plant, I doubt they can cultivate it in Sweden.

Weird looking stuff, reminds me of triffids. The smell of a field of tobacco, though, is utterly delicious.

Re: Sweden to ban tobacco
Tobacco is easy to grow in the UK, and I'm sure would grow even better in Oz with the sunshine.
I used to grow it, and it's true, the scent of a ten square metre patch of tobacco in flower is heavenly.
The baccy is rough though, you need heat and technique to cure it properly.
If I lived in Oz I would give it another go, what with free heat in the summer.
They discovered curing it by transporting it in the sweltering holds of ships, I believe. When it arrive, it was a lot nicer than when it left.

Re: Sweden to ban tobacco
Hard to believe Sweden is just getting around to banning tobacco in public places. We did that years ago. Obviously we're much more progressive and concerned with public health then Soviet Sweden.

I can't be assed to check back, but I think it was OPEN public places that was referred to.
Could be wrong though.

There used to be a huge tobacco industry in the north-east of my state, Victoria. Mostly gone now, I think...mistermack wrote: ↑Thu May 24, 2018 2:59 pmTobacco is easy to grow in the UK, and I'm sure would grow even better in Oz with the sunshine.

Re: Sweden to ban tobacco
Tobacco is a good crop to sow if you just want to kill weeds.
Nothing seems to want to grow beneath it. And it produces millions of free seeds for next year's crop so there is no cost involved once you've grown your first plants.
Much cheaper than Glyphosate weedkiller, and longer lasting and safer too, unless you smoke it.
That's just my own experience, I don't know if other people find the same thing.

A rational skeptic should be able to discuss and debate anything, no matter how much they may personally disagree with that point of view. Discussing a subject is not agreeing with it, but understanding it.
