We're all doomed. More CO2 needed

wikipedia wrote:During the next four billion years, the luminosity of the Sun will steadily increase, resulting in a rise in the solar radiation reaching the Earth. This will result in a higher rate of weathering of silicate minerals, which will cause a decrease in the level of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. In about 600 million years from now, the level of CO2 will fall below the level needed to sustain C3 carbon fixation photosynthesis used by trees. Some plants use the C4 carbon fixation method, allowing them to persist at CO
2 concentrations as low as 10 parts per million. However, the long-term trend is for plant life to die off altogether. The extinction of plants will be the demise of almost all animal life, since plants are the base of the food chain on Earth.[11]

Of course he does. Because we will all be dead in x billion years therefore no global warming.

As it is, the rate limiting step of photosynthesis is the photon. The dark reaction at night continues to make the carbon units and is somewhat dependent on CO2. But with the amount of photons captured, there is an upper limit. I think all the photons get used, none wasted.

Eventually, the planet will die.

It seems obvious right? We just lucked out regarding geologic time scales. Life is fragile, but a lot can happen in 3 billion fucking years.

Good paper. The answer is complex but only a 37% increase in photosynthesis can be achieved in one plant. Then you need more photons. And chlorophyl I presume.

I think the next 100 years will be a big enough problem.

Of course if we are all robots, androids or packets of electronic information in the matrix we won't need CO2 - or oxygen for that matter. Evilution winz!

The Reptilian Overlords are already busy with that, your biological self might've already been replaced - and you wouldn't know it.

Meanwhile your old body has been served up at some Shape-Shifting Lizard family's Sunday Roast. :whisper:
