The US government is still gunning for him. If Assange leaves his chosen prison he may still be extradited.

He should have lied in the first place. Telling the truth was a big mistake.
He would have got a lot more sympathy if he'd denied what happened, and claimed that the slapper was awake when he bonked her. He should have learned from Bill Clinton. Deny everything, and you'll get away with it.
Is it actually sexual relations, if they're asleep? I'll have to ask Bill.
Mind you, Assange would still have been extradited to the US without taking shelter in the embassy.
So it wouldn't have made much material difference.
But if he had more international sympathy, the Swedes might have dropped it much earlier.
