Wouldn't size be dependent on a number of factors such as environment and predators just to name a couple?

Gravity is also going to play a part. You simply aren't going to get gigantic creatures on planet with gravity significantly stronger than ours.

Not true, in water. 650 pounds is nothing special in the oceans.
