Charlie Hebdo: Gun attack on French magazine kills 12

Gunmen have shot dead 12 people at the Paris office of French satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo in an apparent militant Islamist attack.

Four of the magazine's well-known cartoonists, including its editor-in-chief, were among those killed, as well as two police officers.

A major police operation is under way to find three gunmen who fled by car.

President Francois Hollande said there was no doubt it had been a terrorist attack "of exceptional barbarity".

The masked attackers opened fire with assault rifles in the office and exchanged shots with police in the street outside before escaping by car. They later abandoned the car in Rue de Meaux, northern Paris.

(continued, they don't have a sense of humour these mussies...)

Every newspaper in Europe should publish Charlie Hebdo cartoons tomorrow.
Rationalia relies on voluntary donations. There is no obligation of course, but if you value this place and want to see it continue please consider making a small donation towards the forum's running costs.

I like to think of myself as a supporter of open immigration, but honestly I think that by letting these people in we're forging a rod for our own backs.
Yeah well that's just, like, your opinion, man.

Enoch Powell proved right. Again.

Who do I blame? Not the gunmen. You might as well blame a dog for biting someone.
It's what they do.

I blame the politicians, for allowing too much immigration of the wrong sort.
And the voters, for blindly voting for them, and not getting THEIR wishes represented.

Because all of the immigration has always happened against the wishes of the population.
Because "they", our rulers, always think that they know better.
And the voters have done nothing about it.

Voters are just "bigoted women" to the likes of Gordon Brown. When he thinks nobody can hear him.
And they're all the same.
While there is a market for shit, there will be assholes to supply it.

They should give everybody else guns...

What do you suppose the outcome would have been if every cartoonist and employee in the building had their own AK sitting beside their desk?

Different outcome I project.

And for those hoplophobes who think that possessing a firearm automatically drives one to derangement and homicide, I note that Israel arms its citizenry and posts guards armed with machine guns, who happen to be civilian volunteers, at Israeli schools, and since then there have been no successful mass murders at Jewish schools in Israel...and none of those volunteers has gone bonkers and shot up the school themselves.
