Sandy Creek ghosts

Post by Blind groper » Sun Mar 16, 2014 1:59 am

Reference : Skeptic magazine :Vol. 19, no. 1 2014, page 52.

In Colorado, there is a place called Big Sandy Creek, where there was a battle between US Cavalry and native Indians. There is a monument to the dead overlooking the creek.

This is a place where lots of people go, and experience the sensation of having ghosts all around them, with terrible feelings of sadness. People visiting the site get cold shivers, and sometimes even see the ghosts of dead natives.

There is just one small problem. The monument was put in the wrong place. The battle took place a couple of miles away, further up the stream. The place where people are feeling such ghostly encounters is not where people died.

The writers of the Skeptic article took a bunch of 'paranormal researchers' with all their electronic devices, to the site. They led them over the supposed site of the killings, and then over bare land, then over the real site of the killings and beyond. They did not tell the researchers the truth. The researchers then plotted a map of paranormal measurements, and showed major indications at the false site, and absolutely nothing at the real place where people died.

This is clearly a case of "ghost drift". Ghosts are, as you know, not composed of matter in the way in which we would normally define it. Instead, spirits are made up of "ectoplasm"; a cobwebby, glutinous substance that obeys different laws of motion to those that we might be familiar with from school science lessons. Ectoplasmic creatures are only marginally affected by such physical forces as "gravity", "electricity" and "centrifugal force" but are highly susceptible to the psychic forces generated by large outpourings of emotion. Thus, it is unsurprising that the spectres of those slaughtered at this site should have gravitated towards the places where they are mourned. In a very similar way, other ghosts are known to have moved, over time, from their place of demise to the grave in which they are buried.

Had these so-called "scientists" bothered to read the numerous academic papers which I have written on this subject that the bastards refused to publish and eventually stopped even returning or acknowledging, they would know what was going on and stop trying to use their evil "scientistic methods" to disprove what is obvious to anyone with a half-formed aura! :prof:

Heh. Nice parody. Unfortunately it's a bit too close to what paranormal researchers utter nutters actually come up with to save their delusions.

Nice trap, truly sprung. Unfortunately the likes of Dreck keep bouncing back because there are so many gullible suckers who want to believe in hocus pocus.

The weird thing is I like reading fiction about modern urban wizards who see ghosts and battle evil demons...

(e.g. The Dresden Files, by Jim Butcher)

But yes, my temporary suspension of disbelief is just that.

Temporary...

Yesterday I was the only one awake in this summer house (out in the middle of nowhere) and went outside.
It was completely dark and I always felt like someone was coming around the corner and would attack me.
It was quite scary until I realised that it wasn't going to happen and I should just drink a bit more
