Me and Pappa liked Defendor as well, and I agree about Tom Cruise in Interview even though he was horrible casting from the book as far as I'm concerned, as a stand-alone role it was great.

UP. Pixar/Disney 2009. What an absolutely lovely flick :swoon:. Spencer Tracy (as in the father of the bride et.c.) recreated in animation, and the kids loved it - I think I am going all sentimental.

I didn't believe those animation studios (outside Japan) had it in them to create something with some depth, anymore. Happy to be proven wrong.

It was okay. Dogs that can fly planes push my believability buttons.

There's nothing wrong with a bit of magic, especially when it's obvious.

Is there a thread for movies you thought you'd like but didn't end up doing anything for you?

Se7en. Lame :ddpan:

But those letters are not silent.

I watched Iron Man 2 the other day and it was better than I expected. Lots of fun.

Also watched The Little Girl Who Lives Down the Lane, with a young Jodie Foster in the lead. Funny film. Reminds me of the story I just wrote :what: Except more clever of course.
I really like Jodie Foster. I wish she'd been in some better films. I loved her in Little Man Tate, but have yet to see another of her films that's really moved me. Silence of the Lambs was okay I guess. It should be precisely the sort of film I should like, I suppose, but to me it came across as just rather silly as opposed to scary or suspenseful. Maybe I should watch Contact again. I don't remember anything about it.

Now I'm watching an Absolutely Fabulous collection, sweetie darling. Of course it's fabulous, sweetie. Particularly impressive to me is the daughter. How she manages to keep a perfectly straight face through it all is beyond me.

Have you seen Hotel new Hampshire? One of Jodie's early films, that I absolutely adore. Also features Nastassja Kinski as a bear.

Was she in that? I saw it many years ago when it first came out but don't remember it at all except for Kinski in the bear suit :hehe:

I've heard only good things of it., Missed it to my chagrin, since the local multiscreen abruptly shifted it on to make way for Iron Man meets the Evil Dead 7. My better 99% knew the biographee from her days at university, so it would have held an extra piquancy for her.

Once a time in Anatolia. An hypnotic , visually sumptuous, albeit unremittingly bleak rendition of the human condition.
