What is the longest book you own?

And have you read it? Excluding dictionaries and has to be a single volume.

Reckon mine is Europe: A History by Norman Davies, 1365 pages.

Hmmm certainly the longest set is Mazalan Book of the Fallen which is 10 interwoven novels of 900 pages or so each - I think 4th time around for me. They likely are the longest single volumes as well - one I think runs in the 1100 page range.

I think we should go by words and not pages. :hmph:

No, strike that, it should be by characters, including spaces and punctuation.

I have no idea what my longest book is by pages. However, as there is a practical limit to how many pages can be in a softbound volume, I might struggle to beat 1,365.

I have that, and the (slightly shorter) sequel, Castles of Steel.

EDIT: I have War and Peace as well, and The Rise and Fall of the Third Reich.

Off the top of my head I'd guess The Crimson Petal and the White by Michael Faber at a paltry 944 pages.
