Morning After Pill May be Sold on Supermarket Shelves

Post by Coito ergo sum » Tue Dec 06, 2011 4:52 pm

The Washington Post reports that, under President Obama and his Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius, the Food and Drug Administration is considering letting “anyone of any age buy the controversial morning-after pill Plan B directly off drugstore and supermarket shelves without a prescription.” The Post writes,

Sounds good to me. I don't see as the FDA has any particular expertise in determining this issue. Sell it in supermarkets. My supermarket has a drug store in the same room anyway, so what's the difference?

Being on the shelves means they are freely available, like bread and milk and eggs.

Bonus prize: abortions drop 50% (and I'd bet a buck a lot more than that, really).

Not that that was ever what it was really about.

I've always seen people using religion to interfere with other peoples' sexual and reproductive choices as very much like as if the S&M and B&D folks were to take over the world and make it mandatory for someone to be the top and someone to be the bottom in every sexual encounter, and for leather to be involved.

The fundy's do seem to take an inordinate interest in other people's naught bits and what they do with them, don't they?
Yeah well that's just, like, your opinion, man.

I take an inordinate interest in women's naughty bits, and what they do with them, but I'm not even close to a fundy... I just like their naughty bits...

Maybe it'll change it here. I hope so. We'll see; I guarantee you the fundies will be foaming at the mouth on Faux Entertainment tonight.

In Ireland you have to go to the GP to get the morning after pill. Abortion is illegal in Ireland so I don't know how they got around it.
