Ancient Aliens
I thought this was quite interesting.
http://www.megavideo.com/?v=9BSGWQBF (MegaVideo will let you watch about 72 minutes. When it stops, just wait an hour and restart the vid)
In modern times, the first UFO was reported in 1947. But many people believe that aliens have been among us for thousands of years. And for evidence, they point to certain ancient texts and monuments. Do they, in fact, tell the story of extraterrestrial contact eons ago? Join the worlds leading UFO experts including the authors of the bestselling Alien Identities and Fingerprints of the Gods for an extraordinary investigation that journeys through human history in search of evidence of alien contact. Why do so many structures, from different societies worldwide, seem to point towards the same spot in the skies? What other possible explanation is there for the frequent references to strange flying objects in ancient texts? Do some clues point to the presence of aliens among the ancients themselves? With dramatic re-creations, footage from around the world and inspired scholarship, ANCIENT ALIENS attempts to uncover the truth

Re: Ancient Aliens
It's just a commercial for von Daniken, if we're talking about the same show. A fan-boy of von D. produced it and sold it to the networks.

Never heard of him, till I watched the show.
I like the idea that jesus is really a martian or summat.
That'll be a turn up for the books. 21st Dec 2012..... Attack of the return of the killer Aliens from Mars.

It was a summary of the state of the woo on that matter, except for (I think) Icke's Reptilians. I get grumpy every time I watch it.Deep Sea Isopod wrote:Never heard of him, till I watched the show.

Is there any possibility of some possibility in Von whasnames hypothesis?

Re: Ancient Aliens
He does the Promethus myth with space helmets. Anything is possible, I guess, but his premise isn't backed up with anything concrete or even logical. He makes huge leaps from "that looks like a guy in a helmet" to "everything we know today came from B.E.M.s. (That's "bug eyed monsters" if you're not familiar with the term.)Deep Sea Isopod wrote:Gawdzilla wrote:It was a summary of the state of the woo on that matter, except for (I think) Icke's Reptilians. I'm uploading a pdf that I took from Skeptic magazine's "Junior Skeptic" section that covers von D.
http://ibiblio.org/pha/JR-SKEPTIC.pdf
Give it a half hour or so to upload.

Re: Ancient Aliens
As in, straight up?Why do so many structures, from different societies worldwide, seem to point towards the same spot in the skies?

What bollocks. Unless a 'structure' is pointing due north or south, it will continually point to different spots in the sky as the Earth rotates!

That is the limit of von Daniken's scientific accuracy, DSI. The guy's a woo-pushing ignoramus.
A book is a version of the world. If you do not like it, ignore it; or offer your own version in return.

He goes from "I wonder if. . . " to " . . . so it is therefore proven" in less time than needed to do so when reading this sentence. In one of his books, hydrocarbons become manna from heaven. Hydrocarbons, carbohydrates, what's the difference, right?
I don't remember where the hydrocarbons came from, but it was somewhere silly.

I did find it a bit silly after going on about how aliens being misinterpreted as being gods and angels, he then said he believes in god.Xamonas Chegwé wrote:As in, straight up?Why do so many structures, from different societies worldwide, seem to point towards the same spot in the skies?![]()
