Engaging with the Terminally Stupid

Post by rainbow » Sat Jan 29, 2022 9:23 am

How do you counter the following arguments?

1.They got it wrong about Covid in the beginning, so why should we trust them?
2. Internet research shows that the vaccine kills more people than Covid.
3. Science isn't always right.
4. Science is based on theories, so it can't be proven.
5. The Truth is more important than Facts.

That makes as little sense as saying bookworms are nearly always unpopular because stupid will always be stupid.

Remember when we used to say that the religious were stupid, when really they'd just been primed and triggered by authority to accept certain things on faith, and to reject others because they didn't match what they'd already been told?

Telling people they're stupid because they're ignorant or ill-informed, or been lied to, or manipulated isn't going to 'win' any arguments.
