Then there's shrimp etouffee, shrimp jambalaya, shrimp gumbo, shrimp bisque, fried shrimp, grilled shrimp, sauteed shrimp, shrimp and grits, butterflied coconut shrimp, shrimp curry, shrimp kebabs, Tom Yum Goong, crab stuffed shrimp, shrimp egg rolls, shrimp dimsum, shrimp scampi, blackened shrimp, popcorn shrimp, shrimp tacos, shrimp salad, shrimp dip, shrimp tempura, shrimp fried rice, shrimp Alfredo, Buffalo shrimp, shrimp ceviche, shrimp Florentine, pickled shrimp, shrimp Creole, shrimp chowder, shrimp salsa, shrimp toast, and that's about it.

Their prawns are so big they've been known to take children from the beach and eat them.

This gives them their distinctive flavour

We get Mozambican prawns in Swaziland, got us a connection. They're only a couple of hours out of the water and are huge bastids. Utterly delicious. Our shrimp here are but a pale imitation, the biggest shrimp wouldn't make a baby prawn. I like to butterfly them in the shell and grill with butter and garlic and a little peri-peri, they're so delicious it's a sin to disguise them in a sauce.

Unlikely to be 12 years. More like 17 years... but that was last year (to 2035). So, right now, humans have 16 years to go. That is, by 2035 the vast majority will be exterminated.
There may only be isolated small primitive tribes left in the Amazon, Pacific Islands, New Guinea, Australian Central Desert. Kept alive by the AI system for, a) research, and, b) amusement.
