I have NO BELIEF in the existence of a God or gods. I do not have to offer proof nor do I have to determine absence of proof because I do not ASSERT that a God does or does not or gods do or do not exist.

Re: Would you buy an electric car?
Ideally I would have a small electric vehicle, charged via solar panels on my house for running around in the city, and a modern economical diesel 4WD for trips to the outback - steady highway speeds are where diesels shine, and one is not contributing to urban air pollution...

I'd love all public transportation. I hate having to drive for everything.

I always use the bus when I head to the centre of Melbourne - too much traffic congestion to drive, and a real hassle to find a park...Sean Hayden wrote: ↑Mon Jul 02, 2018 6:18 amI'd love all public transportation. I hate having to drive for everything.

There are still one or two left in the UK. They are going fast though.

Not that fast.

Re: Would you buy an electric car?
Learning to drive at the moment. My instructor's car is a diesel, Audi A4. Lovely car to drive. The handbrake is a button though, which is odd. Though it makes uphill starts easy as it disengages automatically as you push off. Diesels are almost impossible to stall.
My girlfriend drives an Auris which is petrol. Harder to drive. Have to disengage the handbrake yourself. Stalled it a few times.
An electric car, however, is one pedal drive. It has a brake pedal if you need to slam on, but easing off the accelerator will slow it down rapidly, instead of coasting, as the kinetic energy of the car is converted to electric energy instead of being wasted as heat. Lifting your foot entirely will bring it to a complete stop, even on a hill.
It can be hard at first as it feels like someone left the brakes on, but supposed to be great for slow moving traffic where you stop and go a lot as you won't have to keep switching around pedals.
