Could a volcano be deliberately ignited?

Post by cronus » Sat Nov 11, 2017 4:31 am

Say you drilled, using underwater technology the Russians already possess, through into a volcanic magma chamber or adjacent to one. And filled a area close to the magma with injected heavy crude oil....for a couple of weeks? Would that be enough?

Getting the oil down on the seabed without being noticed is the hardest part, could make it look like accident...though?

It can be averted by sacrificing a virgin to the volcano gods...

Crossed wires again. It's easy to stop a volcano, I'm on about starting one up.

Someone must have found one. Those evil Russkies lit the submarine volcano in April 2015.

Or maybe they are using a really, really long fuse.

Could a volcano be deliberately ignited? You wish Crumple. You wish. :tea:

If Crumple were sitting on top of it, so would I. :razzle:

No.
Crude oil wouldn't do much, in the absence of oxygen.
While there is a market for shit, there will be assholes to supply it.

Developing weapons that shoot darts for up to 18 metres under water is nowhere near the ability of getting a thousand tons of oil to ignite without oxygen 2000 metres below sea level.

I'm pointing out they are a ingenious nation, not put off by difficulty very easily....underwater. :read:
