You'd do more good and cause less harm if you just reduced your meat consumption by a third.Forty Two wrote:Processing humans for consumption and product development would result in significant environmental benefits, and we cannot afford to ignore any option which will benefit the planet, given the dire condition of our world and the proven danger to humanity.
If we take just those who did not die from intentional homicide, we would save significant acreage that would otherwise go to cemeteries, and we would save the emissions from crematoria. We would have huge amounts of edible matter, as well as lots of bio material that can be used in industry (which we currently get from non-human animals only).
There would be favorable impacts on world hunger, as well as the environment. As a species and as good stewards of the planet, is it immoral not to utilize the huge amounts of material that are now simply discarded?

Meat is environmentally taxing, far more so than plants. I don't care, though, as bacon and red meat just taste too damn good.

Re: The Environmental Benefits of Cannibalism
What would be the harm of using the dead humans, though? The proposal was to take the bodies that die and take up space, etc., and otherwise go to waste, and process them for consumption and use.
What harm?
What harm?

Re: The Environmental Benefits of Cannibalism
If processing of human remains were required, then we would save:Sean Hayden wrote:show your work
all green space used annually for cemeteries - that could be forested;
all emissions from crematoria;
some reduced non-human animal meat consumption due to the availability of 55 million fleshy bodies to consume
no corresponding harm to the environment, because we can use the same facilities and processes that are currently used for other animal products.
So, I don't have exact figures, but what's the downside here? Since the world is in environmental crisis, would it not behoove us to use the human material that currently goes to waste?

Sorry, I thought he was talking about meat in general. I still agree with eating the rich, or at the very least grinding them up and using them as fertiliser.Forty Two wrote:What would be the harm of using the dead humans, though? I suspect it's not worth it. Well, maybe if we can process the "nearly" dead, and "should" be deads.Forty Two wrote:If processing of human remains were required, then we would save:Sean Hayden wrote:show your work
